As a 16 year old young German serving in the French Foreign Legion, I was stationed in Morocco guarding French interests. Morocco has a very strong sun and it can be deadly. Nights are very cold as well. The Sun Protection Face Hood helps against a strong Moroccan sun, as soldiers of the French Foreign Legion are not allowed to wear local wear against the sun. Army issued Balaclava Desert Face Masks were not available due to the need in the Gulf War.

I used to tie bandannas around my face but this is much better. The only problem with it is that normal breathing with the hood on causes my glasses to fog up. Beats the hell out of getting sunburned face and lips anyday though.
