Just an excellent book written by a brilliant storyteller. It's about parenthood, childhood and friendship. Marianne Fredriksson seemed to have a mystical side which she wove very delicately into this story through dreams and visions without overdoing it. Her characters feel real. She got the historical facts right too.

Usually I read the book, then see the film, but this time I did not. The film portrays the character and tone of the book very well.
