Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Simon remembers his birth; he was 36 years old at the time. A victim of technology and circumstance, Simon's memory has been wiped clean, leaving him to rediscover his own identity in a world that is as frightening as unfamiliar, the clues to his personal history few and far between. The path from innocence to recovery takes Simon from planet to planet in a desperate hunt for the truth. Along the way he will befriend snotty robots, baffling alien beings, a precocious kid, and a dog with serious gastrointestinal issues - and he'll find out what kind of a man he really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunningly good writing, February 22, 2008
By Peter Brunone (Dallas, TX USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
There are few authors whose command of the written word I respect as much as that of Cheeseburger Brown. The colorful worlds he paints are matched only by the fascinating characters that walk them.

One thing that sets CBB apart from other writers is his mastery of timing and the cinematic style with which the action progresses. You can't help being drawn into the scene; it's like watching a movie on paper.

But anyway, about this book. It's the first thing I read by this author -- other works are available via Lulu at [...]-- and it's a fast-track ride into the Burgerverse, as we fans tend to call it; if you like Robert Heinlein's stories on a coherent timeline, you'll love this guy's approach.

Buy Simon of Space and you'll be glad... not just that you've found an excellent, moving work of fiction, but also that you've discovered one of those rare gems of the literary world: a published author worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent, humorous and quirky science fiction, brought to you by Cheeseburger Brown, March 13, 2008
By Jill McAlester (Lawrence, KS) - See all my reviews
I first read Simon of Space when it made its debut as an online serial in the summer of 2005. New chapters were posted on a regular basis, and eagerly consumed by a host of captivated readers. We checked the "Simon of Space" blog obsessively, wanting to read the latest installment of the story and find out the answers to the same questions that Simon himself was asking: Who is Simon? To what worlds will his travels take him? Can he trust the people he meets along the way? Can he survive the unexpected adventures he blunders into? The end of his quest to literally "find himself" provides a stunning revelation that shakes him to the core of his being and poses some major philosophical questions.

It's a great story that reads just as well in novel format as it did as a cliffhanger-filled serial publication. Lucky you -- you won't have to wait weeks and months to find out what happens! Many thanks to Cheeseburger Brown for being one of the most creative, talented science fiction writers to come along since Vonnegut.
