This is a beautiful & unique children's storybook about writing a book! It's a "folder size" glossy softcover, and is filled with vivid imagery and a couple of sentences per page. Published by Scholastic Inc, this book has been featured on the acclaimed PBS-TV children's show "Reading Rainbow".

A Fun Colorful Adventure,

This review is from: Simon's Book (Turtleback)
Simon's Book is a fantastic story for children of all ages that wonderfully illustrates what can happen when you use your imagination. Henrik Drescher's illustration and artwork along with the humourous plot-line and way-cool ending make it a MUST READ. :)

A Fantastic Story!,

This review is from: Simon's Book (Mulberry Books) (Paperback)
Henrik Drescher has definitely made this book an instant treat to everyone as his vivid illustrations of Simon and the monster produced both suspense and action for the readers.
This story is about a little boy who starts to draw out a story about Simon and the monster and then suddenly goes to sleep before finishing his book. When the boy is asleep, his drawings come to life and both the ink pens and the bottle of ink tries to help Simon in his monstrous predicament. When the monster suddenly starts to chase Simon and his friends, Simon and his friends must try to escape their foe. Of course, this book has a surprise ending, which I will not reveal until you read it yourself. This is one of the few books where both the main characters have a happy ending instead of one of the characters have a happy ending. The text is witty and the illustrations are so vivid as they displayed the monster being drawn as a vividly scary monster. This book is an instant treat for all children and adults alike.

I haven't seen this book in years, so I am writing this review from my memory of it as a child. The inky drawings are unique and serve the pace of the story well (if I remember correctly, it felt very suspenseful and fast-paced)...I used to flip the pages frantically, to keep up with what was happening to the main character. Now that I am a mother, I am going to order this book for my daughter (okay, and for my own nostalgia) so that she can enjoy it, too.
