5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book!
When you buy a napkin folding book, you expect for it to just have folds. This one is the best because it goes beyond that. It has many folds, from simple to very intricate, and they are catogorized, which makes it very easy to find what you want. The pictures make it easy to understand how to fold the napkin. In additon to napkin folds, it also shows you how to use...

I should have listened to whomever wrote the review titled 'SoSo'. I got really excited about this book by reading all the raving reviews and couldn't wait to get it! I thought for sure it was going to have some awesome ideas in it and that it would be the only book of this nature I would need.

Well, I hate to say that I was pretty disappointed with the...

A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Simple Art of Napkin Folding (Hardcover)
When you buy a napkin folding book, you expect for it to just have folds. This one is the best because it goes beyond that. It has many folds, from simple to very intricate, and they are catogorized, which makes it very easy to find what you want. The pictures make it easy to understand how to fold the napkin. In additon to napkin folds, it also shows you how to use napkins to make a wine bottle coaster, a place mat, and many more things. In the back there are instructions showing how to make your own napkins, napkin rings, and also how to embroider initials on napkins. There is also an Index of Folds, which lists all the different folds in alphabetical order. It tells which page they are on, if they are flat or standing, what type of napkin you should make them out of, how big the napkin should be, and how hard the fold is. In the front there is a stain removal chart. The Simple Art of Napkin Folding is great for anyone.

This book was very clear and precise. It is great for the novice or beginner, even a child can learn how to fold napikins with the great colorful picture diagrams.

5.0 out of 5 stars easy to follow, November 3, 2006

I bought this book after considering several others on line, and now I won't need to buy another. I wanted something that was easy to understand and follow to make the dinner table a little something special for my wife after she comes home from work. Having dinner ready was just not enough for me, and thought about the napkin presentation. This book has more than you will ever need, and each one is clearly drawn out and easy to understand. Money well worth spent.

I should have listened to whomever wrote the review titled 'SoSo'. I got really excited about this book by reading all the raving reviews and couldn't wait to get it! I thought for sure it was going to have some awesome ideas in it and that it would be the only book of this nature I would need.

Well, I hate to say that I was pretty disappointed with the contents. The cover looks so neat and modern, but this is actually a pretty dated book (and no, i'm not saying that's a bad thing, I have lots of older books! Just unexpected on my part). Though there are some interesting ideas in here (making napkin rings, your own napkins, setting a table, etc.) I bought this for the FOLDS! And many of them were very similar. I honestly only found one that I really wanted to try out of all 94. Some of the titles didn't even seem to go with the image of the fold.

I am going to keep this book though and will probably reference it a couple times, but I'm still looking for something better and more modern. Guess I should have looked in the bookstore first! But who does that anymore? ;)

By the way, I am by no means complaining because I know that without seeing the book in person- well it is always a toss-up. I just know that I take all of your reviews seriously when looking into purchasing something (they really help my decision!) and I wanted to make sure you had another opinion on this book.

This book has easy to follow instructions and is very informative about the history of the napkin folds. My husband smiles when he sits down to eat. It's fun decorating the table now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, if You're into this kind of stuff, April 29, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After getting the book, we hosted a dinner party. We photocopied several pages from the book and stuck one copy under each guest's plate. To my surprise, people were totally into it - they happily started practicing "their" fold, invented new ones, and just had a good time.
More to the point, though - the book is aesthetically pleasing, the designs are possible to follow (although not always *easy* to follow), and in all it's exactly what I expected - a book that shows how to fold napkins in neat ways.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book, January 12, 2007

I like this book. It has a lot of cute folds, it is easy to follow and the book is laid out well. It even has a section on some folds for children. The only thing that could possibly make this book better would be if it was in color.

Good illustrations. Includes basic and more advanced techniques.
Ideas could be used with paper napkins, if they are strong.

There weren't as many interesting folds as I had expected. Lots of them are variations of the same thing with only very slight differences that are hardly noticable.

Need ideas for setting a beautiful table? This book gives you table settings plus excellent decorative ideas. We have a wedding coming up this summer and so many of the folded napkin ideas seem appropriate for our causual summer event. Now we just need to select our theme.
A real must for anyone who wants to go a little out of the way to make a memorial occasion.
