Can see why it only took a few months to write. Lots of filler (several pages listing his interviews, several more giving examples of celebs who filed bankruptcy, etc). Unless you've never read a finance magazine or article, there is nothing new in here. Spend a few more bucks and get a real book--Ramsey, Chatsky, etc. There are not even any good tidbits of info. Spend less than you earn, think before you buy, use coupons, reduce meals out (including lunch at work), work well with your spouse on money matters. That's the book.

Easy to read and very practical ways to live wealthy with little money,
This review is from: A Simple Book of Financial Wisdom: Teach Yourself (and Your Kids) How to Live Wealthy with Little Money (Paperback)
Since I am a current stay-at-home mom and wife to a teacher, our family has a lot in common with the author and his family. We both have one income with a family to support. The book was very easy to read, and held my interest. It felt as though I was sitting with the author and his wife, as they shared their story for financial success. The author uses many facts and statistics throughout this book that really had me thinking. Even though I knew it, how could so many "rich and famous" people end up filing for bankruptcy? It made me remember that no matter your income, if you spend more than you make, you're headed for bankruptcy. Even on the smaller scale in our home, we have GOT to spend less than we make (and even prepare for the future). One of my favorite parts of the book was Tracy's (his wife), perspective. We share the same title of being "frugal before frugal was cool". It reminded me that I'm not the only one working hard to spend wisely. I especially found it interesting with her comment about a friend telling her how happy she (Tracy) appeared. She claims to not have all the material items, but is content. It reminds me of a quote "It's not about getting what you want, but wanting what you have". :) I also enjoyed reading about teaching children the concepts of money. I feel this is especially important in this day of virtual money. It can be such a hard concept to grasp in a world where tangible money isn't widely used anymore. I also believe children need hands-on opportunities to learn about money. I love the "jar" system they set up for their daughter, so she could set aside appropriate amounts of money for giving, saving, and spending. This book was very easy to read, and kept my interest. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning about financial wisdom, and anyone interested in a great reminder of some basic financial facts. It's always encouraging to me, in my own personal financial walk, to read about other people who have succeeded, and want to help others.

All who read this book can benifit. Danny Kofke, a career educator, has produced a short easy read that outlines the basic steps for financial success for the novice and reminds the more experienced of the wisdom to observe those steps.

I absolutely love, love, love this book. I have been having a hard time financially and this book has taught me a lot of financial wisdom. The book was really on the average persons level. I like the Dave Ramsey books but as I said this book is more on my level. We just did one of the steps the first week and couldn't believe how much money we were spending and how easily the small things add up. I prayed for wisdom concerning my finances and I feel like this book is one of the answers to my prayer. He says it won't be easy, and it's not but, I can't wait to be debt free.I highly recommend this book.

A glorified pamphlet stunningly short on content. I can give better financial advice for free. . . don't throw away twelve bucks on this nonsense.

Concise and Easy to Read, Good advice,
This review is from: A Simple Book of Financial Wisdom: Teach Yourself (and Your Kids) How to Live Wealthy with Little Money (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book because it is an easy to understand overview of how to handle finances. The stories of celebrities who have gone bankrupt were interesting and were a good starting point for the author's philosophy that money cannot buy you happiness. The financial statistics on American society were also interesting. I think the strongest point of the book is towards the end, when the author discusses how to implement financial concepts in everyday life with your children. He uses stories from his own family and how his daughters are learning to handle money wisely and the importance of teaching future generations how to live within their means. This book is a good introduction to budgeting, putting away money in an emergency fund, how to invest in a college fund, etc. Good basic information - a lot which I already know and follow. For people who want more in-depth ideas, this book may not be for you. But for others who want to start living a "financially wise" life, this book could be just the motivation and inspiration needed to get started.

A Great Book of Financial Basics,
This review is from: A Simple Book of Financial Wisdom: Teach Yourself (and Your Kids) How to Live Wealthy with Little Money (Paperback)
My first thought after reading this book was --- "I wish I had read this book 30 years ago!" Most books on personal finance are extremely boring and filled with more information than the average person can begin to process.Daniel Kofke has done a great job of putting together a great book of financial basics anyone can pick up and read and learn from without feeling overwhelmed! I love how the Kofke's share their down to earth living philosphy and experiences. It was refreshing to know there are people who are living well with out being material driven. I will definitely be buying several copies of this book to give as graduation gifts for high school and college graduates.

A lot of commonsense financial wisdom. Easy and practical for the whole family.A good, well-researched and comprehensive guide with pertinent real-life examples from the outside world as well as from his own household. This quote by M.C. Hammer rings especially true to me : "My priorities should have always been God, family, community and then business". Danny and his wife tell of their own experiences of making good choices from the start and this goes on with their children's being brought up from an early age (three) with an awareness of how to budget and manage their allowance in a simple but meaningful way. I like the way Ava (Danny's daughter) spends her allowance. She makes a difference in people's lives at such a young age with very little. To be recommended.

This was a quick, easy read... but informative. I love how the book is on my "level" and not above my head. He gives very simple steps to saving money and where priorities should be with paying bills, retirement, and college. We have started to follow his steps to become debt free and cut back on other areas where we overspend. I also loved his wife's section about couponing. I actually just ordered the Sunday paper to get the coupons and try to save money. Reading the book really helped my husband and I evaluate our spending and track where every dollar goes. He also gives other sources of information you can reference if you want more detailed help with finance. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for simple solutions to eliminating debt.
