I live in France and married to a Frenchman. Cooking is very important and I have surprised my French family with my cooking skills - and the recipies from Simple French Cooking. This is the first book I head to every time we have a special dinner... the recipies are excellent and without all the time and complicated procedures many new French recipie books seem to have. Bravo to the authors!!!

Some of the desserts are OK. Otherwise, the book is uninspiring and the meal presentation is dull. Since both of the authors are La Varenne grads, the recipes are especially disappointing. For simple, attractive French food, try some of master chef Jacques Pepin's fast food books.
