Outside Nashville City Limits....,

I first heard Stacey Earle just a few days ago, when a nearby radio station aired some preview cuts from her upcoming album. Thank you, WDVX! A friend then mentioned Simple Gearle, and I hit the road running. No disappointment here, and none expected. Solid, sensitive vocals, writing, lyrics, musicianship. For those who would compare her to someone else, look at the boots this girl is wearing in the liner photo, listen to the music, and then tell me those boots aren't made for standing on her own two feet. If Ms. Earle is a "Nashville outsider," as one reviewer attributed to the N.Y.Times, then I hope she stays exactly that. True to self. I'm proud to be living on the same planet with this lady. Thank you, Gearle, for renewing my faith in the industry.

STACEY IS ONE OF THE BEST SINGER-SONGWRITERS I'VE HEARD ON ALBUM OR IN CONCERT. I'LL GET EVERY CD SHE RELEASES IN THE FUTURE. ANYONE WHO IS A STEVE EARLE FAN SHOULD DEFINITELY PICK UP STACEY'S DEBUT. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL!

A Real Gem!,
By A Customer

The first I heard of Stacy Earle was her work with here brother Steve on the song "When I fall" on his Transcendental Blues album. A beautiful track, probably the best on the album. I then lucked out because Stacey was playing a local club two days later. I went with my dad and was again impressed (although, to be honest, she's a bit too comical in concert than I would have liked). What blew me away was the quality of the songwriting.I picked up Simply Gearle a few days later and it has been on the top of the pile ever since. Her voice is wonderful (the best comparisons are to Emmylou Harris, Victoria Williams, or Nanci Griffith). The writing, as I said before, it top notch. There is not one weak song on this album. Songs like "Next Door Down" and "Show me how" are about as good as you can get. This is one of the best albums I have heard in the last year or so. Highly recommended.
