Some craft books have only one or two projects that you would even contemplate tackling. Some craft books make you feel uncool. Some craft books are way too fuddy duddy. Simple Gifts, however, is just right. This is a great book to have in your arsenal because it is full of fun and practical crafts for all types of crafters. It has gobs of easy-peasy gifts that will please everyone on your gift list - from hipsters to grandmas (even hipster grandmas)!

I do not think of myself as a particularly crafty person, but this book changed my mind. The projects are hip and unique, the photos are beautiful, and the inviting writing style made me want to try every single thing. Particular faves right now are the awesome photo-strip garlands and the easy(non-knitted)baby blanket, both of which I'm giving as gifts!

I ordered this for gift inspiration for the upcoming holiday season and it does deliver! Easy to complete projects and really creative ideas. I thought I was crafty, but this book helped "up my game." Great ideas for neighbors, co-workers and even those hard to buy for guys on your list.

I found all the introductions to each project entertaining to read. The instructions are easily understood. I have tried only four things so far, but they are great. I made the magnets and baked Grammy's Cherry Cookies, the Kringles, and made the salted caramels. All the projects were easy and turned out well. I am not normally a "crafty" person, but the author makes it seem easy.
I have also purchased several for gifts because I like the book so much.

I have been crafting pretty much all my life and this book inspired me. There are crafts for all abilities and the directions aren't just the simple 'how to'. There is story and personality wrapped up in it which made it really enjoyable. I made the salted caramels - my first batch was more caramel sauce (my error - not an experienced candy maker), but the second batch came out amazing. That is one dangerously delicious gift! I have my sights set on the felted ring next. My heart skips a beat knowing that other people feel like handmade gifts are important and that the little extra personal touch means something. This book has heart and creative vision. Loved it!

I'm a serious fan of Jennifer Worick's books and have loved her fresh, irreverent writing voice for years. Simple Gifts is the perfect treat for oneself or a friend because the projects are fun, original, and Jennifer's writing makes them absolutely accessible and nonintimidating.
Simple Gifts is organized beautifully by craft materials (fiber, paper, wood, etc.) which is a special touch.
Also valuable is the extensive discussion of how to select the perfect gift, complete with checklists and the perfect questions to ask well in advance of the occasion. Jennifer offers many clever gift presentation ideas also.
The event ticket garland is fabulous, along with the classic framed silouhette, baby blanket, pajama pants, slipers, and market tote. And for foodies on your list, the suagared edible flowers and sumptuous caramels will make you a hit with just about anyone.
I have found myself carrying this book with me in my purse everywhere I go (yes, even to the spa!!) because it is so inspirational to flip through over and over again to glean ideas and inspiration, motivation, and even energy.
Highly recommended and a blessing to the world! I've read thousands of books in my life (literally hundreds in just the past few years), and can honestly say that I am highly critical and impatient with authors that don't break new ground or offer something unique, new or innovative. Jennifer Worick meets all those requirements; all of her ideas are interesting, original, yet perfectly on trend. Buying this book will guarantee you a wealth of fun projects and inspirational perspective. Enjoy! (I know you will! :)

Jennifer Worick did it again. Her newest book is just like the others... just can't seem to put it down. The layout and organization is perfect. The ideas are manageable, even for the beginner. You will love this book. It would be great for gift giving, too, and the price is fantastic.
