This is really nothing more than a directory. It is useful but the bottom line is that this is just an overpriced list of phone numbers and websites.

If you haven't read anything else about marketing your book, then this is a good place to start. I've included it in my box of resources and I recommend it to my writing group.

I'm currently working on two ideas for non-fiction books. One is about current use (and mis-use) of English, the other a book of quotations.I found this book to be very helpful. I liked that it put things in as concise a manner as possible, getting directly to the point. I'd recommend it to anyone who's into publishing, self-publishing or marketing of a book. By reading this first, you'll probably save yourself from making mistakes and wasting money on wrong turns. So, I'd say to check it out before proceeding further with your book idea.

Most new authors are shocked when they discover that they have to play a very active part in marketing their book. Sure, the major publishing houses provide massive marketing muscle for titles from their A-List authors. It's a fact that the vast majority of marketing funds are allocated to best-selling authors. For the rest of us, "A Simple Guide to Marketing Your Book" contains street-wise tips from someone who knows what he's talking about. There's no fluff or filler; just condensed and practical information to help us get the job done.

Good Book If You Are Trying To Sell To Book Stores,
This review is from: A Simple Guide to Marketing Your Book (Paperback)
I have self-published over thirty books now, and I have read most of the titles in this specific genre. This book is a great resource for information sources that will help you market your book. The only complaint I have is that it focused much more on selling books to bookstores, when online selling is really beginning to dominate the self-publishing industry. The book was written in 2001, so that kind of makes sense. I still gave the book 4 stars because all of the stuff in the book is still valuable, and it will help you in the industry.
