I've just read a PDF version of this book, and I tell you that's the way we in Italy make them.

Probably the hardest part for you will be to find the original italian ingredients, you cannot replace the "pecorino romano" cheese for instance with another kind. The ingredients listed are part of the italian tradition and this is a book about making italian food so make an effort 'cause it worth the cost!

Aside from panini (that's plural, the single is "panino") it's intersting the chapter about bruschette (again plural, singular is "bruschetta") that we use as opener when going to the resturant, and tramezzini (sing. "tramezzino") that we often take as aperitive.

There's many good ideas in this book to start from.
Recommended by an italian that lives in Italy :)

I'd not heard of this panini bar but loved reading the history..
This is an adorable family who follows tradition; can't go wrong with people like that.
Very good recipes, easy to follow,
would make a superb gift.

Simple Italian Sandwiches is much more than a sandwich book - it's about eating simply, eating well and enjoying each and every bite. I can't say enough good things about this cookbook -- it has taught me to look at food in new ways that lead to delicious and nutritious meals.

Very simple and incredibly good recipes. Just following simple instructions, makes you feel like a chef. Would definitely recommend even if you haven't cooked at all before.

I give this book, along with Cuisinart's panini maker as a frequent housewarming gift. Great reference book, but I tend to find so many of my recipes on line.
