5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing CD by an amazing band!!!! March 15, 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Pivot is truly the definition of alternative rock. This four-piece from Raleigh N.C. is indeed not a force to be reckoned with. Recently touring with Mudvayne, these guys have some real potential. The 5 track EP starts off slowly and builds into the chorus of first song. Immediately I am hooked into their harmonic vocals, driving guitar riffs & amazing drum sound. They have a rather unique sound I haven't heard before, this is what draws me to them and gives them a great sound. My favorite track by far has be (3) Erase It. This could easily be a radio track that could get them the recognition they deserve. Overall this EP is solid from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ground breaking, yet familiar! June 27, 2004
Format:Audio CD
N.C. Rockers PIVOT hit a winning jolt with this album, and it"s got all the subtlety and shock of a trip to the electric chair! Five tunes and one very weird hidden track make up this twenty-five minute ride to all corners of the planet Mars and back again. The band sound like they"ve done their home schooling with head-master Maynard James Keenan (TOOL / A PERFECT CIRCLE). They are not, by any blink of an eye, a TOOL rip off band, but they aren"t afraid to wear their influence on their chests as they hit it loud and proud. Track #1, "Slipping Away", is as catchy as anything I"ve heard on commercial radio in a while and will probably land them a reserved spot there just because it seems to sound similar to something you think you may have heard before. Track #2, "Flies In Butter" ...the musicianship is "perfecto"! What makes this disc a winner for me is the last track, "Blind Side". Now we"re talking! Here"s where the TOOL influence comes out in full army gear and their musicianship excels above most of the competition. Vocalist Kevin Juda is awesome and the Hambright brothers (Eric-guitar, and Mike-Bass) are locked into a zone like two siamese ninjas. Phil Cicco, well, he could give TOOL drummer Danny Carey a run for his polyrhythmic money any day! This is the kind of song that"s gonna seperate them from the pack of bands sprouting up to play future OZ-FESTs. It all checks out well, music fans. I"m sure we'll be hearing more about PIVOT in the not-so-distant future!

I listen to pivot's newest cd before I go to the gym. In years past I always listened to Metallica and AC/DC. Those groups are still the great ones, although Pivot might not have the recognition yet, but they are every bit as enjoyable to listen to. I have even spoke to eric from the group to put there music in my next movie.
