I am so happy that 8 simple Rules is finally being released to DVD on 8/07/07 and season 1 is defintely one of my favorites out of all 3 hillarious seasons. I loved John Ritter in "Three's Company" and I think his roll in "8 Simple Rules is just as funny and a must own set. 3.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious, 28 episodes in a season, a rarity in today's series
I watched this show at a friend's home not expecting to as we surfed the channels to see what's on, and before long I'd come to enjoy this show. It became my favorite show to watch on Tuesday nights. It was great to see Mr. Ritter again in another series. As indicated in my subject line, I found it interesting that the cast gave us that many episodes. Upwards of 30...

I was quite shocked at the low $17.99 price for this set and I would definitely pre-order it while the price is still good with all of the online market place sales that are going on right now temporarily.

Paul (John Ritter) died off of the show as well as in real life in the beggining of season 2 and I find some of the episodes very sad because I knew that he would no longer be in the following seasons. There was a special two part show entitled "Goodbye in season 2 for the loss of John Ritter. After that, there was a few following episodes that dealt with the family coping with their loss and the stress of the children losing there father. I thought that the show would never be the same after that but it quickly picked back up pace, in which the show survived until after the third season and then came to an end. I did miss John Ritter after he was no longer part of the cast but the show continued with great hillarious episodes and I think that the other seasons did remarkably well.

Buy and enjoy season 1 because John Ritter is on all of these shows and is so fun to watch. His memory through his comedic work is still with us and is here to be watched and enjoyed for all time. Here is a complete list of all 28 episodes that will be included with this set, including the rare pilot that started it all!

I am not going to write a 'review' about this last John Ritter series. Needless to say this A-Class person is missed by all the entertainment world and his fans. Enjoy this DVD, anyone with a child can relate to the stresses, joys and triumphs that children brings to a family. Katey Sagal and the others in the ensemble bring a realness. Great acting, great writing. Buy, Enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Laughter ensues the Rules, September 7, 2007
This review is from: 8 Simple Rules: The Complete First Season (DVD)
The rules are:
1.Use your hands on my daughter and you'll lose them after.
2.You make her cry, I make you cry.
3.Safe sex is a myth. Anything you try will be hazardous to your health.
4.Bring her home late, there's no next date.
5.Only delivery men honk. Dates ring the doorbell. Once.
6.No complaining while you're waiting for her. If you're bored, change my oil.
7.If your pants hang off your hips, I'll gladly secure them with my staple gun.
8.Dates must be in crowded public place. You want romance? Read a book.

Imagine Three's Company Jack Tripper all grown up, married and with three kids..You do not have to imagine this that much... 8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter is it!

John Ritter;s last TV gig is pure sitcom. He does not do that many pratfalls like he did in Company, but the humor is there. In this show, he plays stay at home dad/newspaper columnist Paul Hennessy. You can still call him Jack Tripper, if you ask me

Katey Segal is his loving wife Cate. She is the only one in the annuals of TV history to play the trashist TV mom (peg Bundy) to the classist TV mom (this role). She plays the role of the well balanced mom to the dumb dad and in this sitcom it works well

The kids played by Kaley Cuoco (playing a character akin to Kelly Bundy), Amy Davidson (playing a character akin to Lisa Simpson) and Martin spanjer (a cross between Bart Simpson & a suck up to dad). They are the meat & potatoes of this sitcom. Their actions move this along to its funny best

The laughes in this show is never forced. Worth getting for any TV DVD library

I have pre-ordered this DVD and hope the other seasons are released soon. I had been waiting for John Ritters final tv project to be available for purchase. I loved this sitcom, and even after John had passed away, it never lost it's charm.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant and funny :-), July 20, 2007

John Ritter is/was always one of my favourite comedic actors. He had such brilliant timing and the perfect face for delivering great lines. In this show, he played a caring father who was strict enough to let the kids know who was boss, but still had fun with his family.
I cannot wait for this to come out on dvd. It's so funny and this was probably the best season ever. If you haven't seen this show yet, you must do yourself a favour and get a copy when this is released. It's fantastic and something I know I'll enjoy watching many times over.

4.0 out of 5 stars Super-enjoyable and almost perfect., January 2, 2008
This review is from: 8 Simple Rules: The Complete First Season (DVD)
This show is about a ALL-American family, who's members add uniqueness to it. Everyone is completely different in their own ways, and I have grown to love them all although Carrie (Amy Davidson) is my favorite: She was moody, confused and hurt and overall, grouchy, pessimistic and a smartass. I adored her. Still do!!

Anyway, they all have every day problems: Carrie with her looks (she's so pretty), school, BOYS, her sister's popularity and beauty (Carrie's a bit prettier) and just being an outcast overall. Bridgett's main problem was boy issues: Her current boyfriend, Kyle, is DUMB AS R O C K S but somehow, they fit. I remember a spicy episode when Bridgette was gone and Carrie was on the couch with Kyle...Guess what happened? They locked lips. It was sweet and tender, but Carrie regretted it right after. I think she even went as far as running back upstairs!

Rory, the youngest teen, had problems with girls sometimes but usually, it was HE who was the problem; firecrackers, hidden (craftily, I might add) under his bed, in a box, UNDER a board that has pictures placed on top. He's my second favorite character.

Cate is a mom; overworked, under paid yet perserverance like no other. She was always very worried about her growing children's well-beings but most of them (besides Rory) pushed her away, especially Bridget.

Paul, the father was very worried about his kids too; more so than the mother. He always tried to cater to their every needs, E S P E C I A L L Y Bridget's. ^_^

Jim, the grandpa is a one in a million treasure. He was super-funny, and truthful and made a lot of sense. We can call him the voice of reason and logic of the show!

Lastly, C.J., my third favorite character was the "Loser" of the family. He was actually their cousin, who stayed in the basement, and could barely ever do anything right. Finally, he went off to college and got his act together, after the Army or whatever. He is the second funniest, behind grandpa Jim and ahead of Rory. But Rory is by far the most goofy, yet adorable character in the series.

Too bad Ritter died (R.I.P., my Man) because the series could've went up from there; Bridget could have went to college, Carrie could have followed and soon, Rory would too.

I bought this for myself but haven't had time to watch it. I saw a couple of the shows when they were on TV so that is why I am giving it 5 stars. I loved it. John Ritter was great in whatever he was in. It is such a shame that his life was cut short. I am sure he is lighting up heaven with laughter.
