P.S. I got my non-GMO seed from another vendor through Amazon.
It was easy to set the whole thing up - just put the compressed soil disks inside the planter (do it in the sink because it can get messy) and add water, breaking up lumps with your fingers. In addition, since this kind of soil is extremely lightweight, I put some rocks on the bottom of each planter to make them more stable and allow for better water drainage.
The cardboard guide for spacing seeds is nice for someone who does not have experience with plants. After I planted the seeds and watering them, I covered each planter with plastic wrap to keep the seeds moist. In about 5 days the seeds sprouted and I took the plastic off. You can look up detailed care instructions for these plants online. Unfortunately, my cat decided to play with these plants and flipped the whole thing over. But there were enough seeds left for me to do a second run (and possibly a third if I needed to). Don't go crazy planting the seeds the first time - most of them will sprout and you don't want to have fifteen plants fighting for very limited space in the pot. If the few seeds do not sprout, you can always add more later.
When the plants matured, I really enjoyed having fresh basil leaves with pasta :) Did not get to using other plants just yet.

I've been using this planter for a few years now, every season I reuse the containers, I buy more soil and seeds and place them by my window sill. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Hobbyist101

When this arrived, the plant by date was already 6 months past. I tried it anyways and everything grew. Very cute item to keep on the windowsill.Published on January 15, 2014 by Sunflower
Also, the basil sprouted up moldy. Don't bother. Just buy some potted herbs from your nearest local supermarket instead of buying these.Published on December 26, 2013 by BB
The containers are attractive and a good size for the kitchen. The basil is growing well the other 2 didn't grow.Published on August 30, 2013 by Dorlisa Y. Marshall
