These books offer a wealth of color photographs with plenty of suggestions and ideas. Bathrooms provides ideas on redesigning existing baths as well as converting other spaces into bathrooms. Kitchens covers various design alternatives and decisions, for example, when to build a cooking island or create a banquette. Kids' Spaces focuses on children's bedrooms but includes ideas for accommodating children's needs in bathrooms and family rooms. Short lists interspersed throughout give planning and design tips. A basic planning book, such as Andrew Wormer's The Bathroom Idea Book (LJ 9/15/99) or Wendy A. Jordan's The Kidspace Idea Book (reviewed below), will still be useful, but the abundance of ideas here will help an amateur in designing these rooms. Recommended for public libraries.

This series of books is a terrific resource for remodelers or decorating junkies like me. For not much more than the cost of a magazine, you get so much more! Without all the advertisements and unnecessary text. The pictures are lovely and the writing is great. They jumpstart your imagination, and even if you don't want exactly what's described, they serve as an excellent launching pad for your own ideas. I've spent a lot of money on magazines and overpriced coffee table books that don't provide as much as Ms. Cahill's "Simple Solutions" series. You won't be sorry with this purchase.

I'm also a decorating junkie like the previous reviewer. However, I am not as enthousiastic about this book.

I think this is a solid book with nice photos and informative tips. I especially like the fact that this book has representations of many diferent styles. Not all books on bathrooms do.

The pictures while nice, did not go out and inspire me to redecorate my bathroom.

recommendation:
I think if you particularly like books on bathrooms, or if you are planning on redecorating your bathroom and want a secondary source for ideas, this book might be a good choice. Other people would probably want to skip this book.
