Another winner in the Simple Style series, Simple Stamps and Stencils proves that "simple" means not only easy to do, but pleasingly uncluttered and fresh looking. Since "every room in the house can benefit from the judicious use of stencilling," we are treated to 20 projects, including wall and floor decorations sporting checks, leaves, ropes, illuminated letters, and dimensional circles; a blanket chest featuring fleur-de-lis and bed linens bedecked with poppies; and decorative storage jars, picture frames, lampshades, and pillows. The subdued pastel palette occasionally breaks into vibrant burgundy or glittering gold, but of course colors can be adapted to your own taste. Color photos showcase each finished project up front; the end section offers good step-by-steps of each item, along with complete design templates, most full-size. The required skill level is about the same as for Stencilling Made Easy, but the projects are a bit more elegant. --Amy Handy
