Product Description

From the Manufacturer

This product is the basic Bonzai case. It does NOT include a flash memory card.

Access files faster than ever with the SimpleTech Bonzai USB 2.0 Upgradeable Flash Drive.

Bonzai achieves a fast data-transfer rate of 60MB/s (480 Mb/s) by using the latest USB technology, the Hi-Speed USB 2.0, which is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1 specifications. Bonzai is fully compatible with any system that supports USB. Furthermore, Bonzai will always transfer data at the highest rate allowed by your system's USB port.

With other USB flash drives, if you want more capacity you need to purchase a new flash drive. Not with Bonzai. Simply open the case and plug in another flash memory card for an infinitely expandable storage solution. Bonzai uses industry standard Secure Digital (SD) and MultiMediaCards (MMC), available in capacities that meet your storage needs today and tomorrow.

Bonzai makes it easy to store, transfer and carry your files. Whether you're at home, at work, or on the road, Bonzai provides instant access to your files via any computer with a USB port.

Simply plug Bonzai into any USB port and the computer will automatically detect Bonzai as a drive. Now you can read, write, copy, delete and move data to and from your hard disk drive to Bonzai.

Use Bonzai to store your business documents, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word files, and work anywhere you travel. Carry favorite digital pictures, MP3 music, video and audio clips and share them with family and friends. Even store games for a little fun between projects.

Bonzai is a breakthrough in design and convenience. With enough storage capacity to store the equivalent of hundreds of floppy disks or dozens of CD-ROMs, Bonzai gives you the freedom to carry all your files in the palm of your hand.

Bonzai features a sturdy and stylish case that slips easily into your pocket, purse or briefcase. The all-in-one unit requires no batteries, no external power, and no additional cables or adapters.

Bonzai is a plug-and-play USB device that is compatible with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 systems. USB is available in nearly every desktop and notebook computer made in the past few years. Bonzai works equally well with Windows and MacOS computers, with no drivers required (except for Windows 98 and earlier). Bonzai even works with USB hubs and USB keyboards so you don't have to remove other USB devices to access your files.

Product Description

Should you need a larger storage capacity, rather than having to purchase an entirely new mini-drive, you simply upgrade the memory inside the unit. Bonzai is compatible with both Secure Digital (SD) and MMC (MultiMedia Cards) storage. Upgrading the memory means either purchasing a new SD or MMC card, or utilizing a larger card you may already have in your camera or other device. With a USB 2.0 connection, Bonzai is fully plug and playable and requires no external power or drivers to operate. Simply insert Bonzai and start transferring data at a mind blowing 480Mb/sec or 60MB per second. The Hi-Speed USB Standard is backward compatible to USB1.1, so users who have not yet upgraded their systems can still use this device, but only at the USB 1.1 transfer rate of 1.5MB/sec. As you would expect, Bonzai is small, measuring just 2.75x1.375x.25 (WxHxD) in size. Its a breakthrough in design and convenience. With enough storage capacity to equal more than 90 floppy disks, Bonzai gives you the freedom to carry all your files in the palm of your hand. Use Bonzai to carry all your important business documents to work or anywhere you travel. Carry favorite digital pictures, MP3 music, video and audio clips to share with family and friends. Bonzai gives you instant access to your files via any computer anywhere with a USB port.

5.0 out of 5 stars outstanding product, November 20, 2004

Thumbdrives are great; have got them for my kids. But if you want to share data with other devices than computers, more generic flash memory (like SD) is preferable. I've got a few SD cards for my PDA, my camcorder, and my laptop (it has a built-in SD drive). The Bonzai allows me to swap cards/files with these devices and other computers (with USB ports), using thumbdrive-like device. Big advantage of Bonzai is you can swap out SD flash memory, using it for multiple cards. Or even if you only used it as a thumbdrive, it has the advantage of being upgradable. I started using it with a 256MB SD card; just got a 1GB 32x SD card and it flies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and convenient, September 7, 2005
This review is from: Simple Tech BONZAI USB 2.0 CARD READER ( STI-USB2BONZAI ) (Personal Computers)
We now have three digital cameras in the house, and they all use SD memory cards. Downloading all the pictures from the cameras was getting to be a burden, and was wasting camera battery time as well. So, when I saw this little device, I knew I had to have one, especially when I noticed the price. All our computers are running Windows XP, so using this was a simple as inserting an SD memory card and plugging it into an open USB port. The time required to download the pictures is a fraction of what it takes when the camera is connected to the USB port. I've also found it to be a convenient way to move data between my laptop and other computers. I now have one of these in the desk drawer in the office, and another in my laptop case.
