Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-8-This excellent guide should be on every library shelf. It urges children to do their share to save the Earth's resources by following the "Three R's"- reducing, reusing, recycling-and makes common-sense suggestions that are fairly easy to follow. Readers learn what garbage can be recycled, how to reuse things around the house, how to be a wise shopper, and more. Black-and-white sketches illustrate the text. A follow-up to 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth (Andrews & McMeel, 1990), this book should appeal to the same wide audience. A valuable resource for both reports and classroom discussion.

From Booklist

Gr. 4-7. Similar in format to 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Save the Earth (1990), this book provides projects, activities, and simple practices children can use to implement recycling at home, in their community, and at school. Also included are valuable tips about handling specific materials. Sources for statistics are not given, but the authors frequently suggest books related to the activity being described. A list of environmental organizations and corporations concerned with recycling, a roundup of free and inexpensive materials, and a bibliography of children's books for further reading will supply student researchers with more than enough resource material for reports. Librarians may want to purchase multiple copies of this; it's sure to be popular with teachers as well as youth groups and concerned, young environmentalists. Chris Sherman

This review is from: 50 Simple Things Kids Can Do to Recycle (Paperback)
This is a wonderful book for young and old alike. It is full of ideas for teachers, scout leaders, and recycling coordinators looking for educational demonstrations for the public. Not to mention how much knowledge children will gain by reading this simple book.
