Excellent Wicca 101...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
I found this book at my local library and pickedit up to see if it was much different from other "Wicca 101" books. I was pleaseantly surprised to find some new "flavors" for an over-worked subject. Yes, this book is very basic and still follows the main tenets of Wicca, but the author adds her own "spices" which really helps to freshen up the subject. But most of all, the writing and concepts are extremely straight forward and understandable. A perfect combo for any newbie! This book is a very enjoyable read..... I would reccomend it to anyone who is interested in Wicca whether as a practitioner or just curious. If you ARE a beginner, this book, coupled with Silver RavenWolf's "To Ride a Silver Broomstick", would be an excellent choice to get you started in your studies. Now that I've finished this book and have to return

Simple Wicca is simply wonderful!,
By Rebecca R. (Seattle, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
I have been casually curious of Wicca for some time but never quite found ther right "doorway" into the practice. This book was the perfect lamp to light my path!Simple Wicca is both informational and inspirational. It covers enough of a foundation to make you feel like you have an understanding of this ancient spiritual practice yet also provides delightful instruction on casting spells, working with various magical tools, the moon, colors, directions - even the days of the week. Most importantly, as a beginner, I appreciated the honest, supportive instructional guidance of the author. I could almost hear the pages saying, "Its OK. You can do it. Give it a try!" And I will - I can't wait to cast my first spell!

A Decent Beginner Book, Good for Novices,
By
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom Book) (Hardcover)
I picked up "Simple Wicca" from the local bargain bin, and was imagining it to be a basic beginner's book for Wicca, and was not let down. Morgan has a kind voice, and her prose is straightforward enough to be interesting and factual, without delving so far down into rote instruction as to be dry and without inspiration. Though some times her descriptions can get a little flighty and are over-exagerated to prove a point, they are effective for illustrating what Morgan means. In subject, "Simple Wicca" covers the basics quite well. There's a crash course in various gods and goddesses, the sabbats, the lunar rites, and basic rituals of initiation and practice. There's also a good list of references, book and web, for more information on most of the topics that Morgan covers. All in all, this is a decent book for beginners, but those with even a little experience in Wicca or Paganism will find this book fairly second nature. It might also be good for introducing the faith to someone who has a close person involved in Wicca. 'Nathan

The title speaks for itself.,

Michele Morgan explains the practice of Wicca in simple terms and with a magical voice. Simple Wicca reads like an invitation to join in a joyful celebration rather than like a cookbook of spells. She walks her talk.

As Above...,
By Beverly (Hackensack, New Jersey United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
As a long time practitioner of Wicca and Paganism, I have read and used many books on these subjects. So needless to say, I am extremely skeptical, picky and very hard to convince when it comes to sincerity and authenticity of available written works. Ms. Morgan's book offers not only those qualities but far more...she gives us a serious, yet uncomplicated look into a world that is magical, mystical and very accessible to those on the path, or to those who are just curious... Ms. Morgan demystifies our practice and theosophy, yet manages to maintain its dignity, credibility and beauty. If you've ever wondered who and what witches really are and what they really do...then this book is for you. But beware, for after reading it, you just might realize that beneath that cold, patriarchal religious exterior...you were really a witch all along...!

Wonderful Holiday fun, Two thumbs up!!!!,
By De Ritterheim (Mt. Pleasant, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
This books sums up the Wiccan Religion in a tight little nutshell for those who want to know the jist of Wicca. It sums up the Gods and Goddesses, Holidays, lunar calendar, practices and rules Wiccan uses. You usually find this in several different books, but its all contained in this one. I've been practicing for about 3-4 years now, and I found some new things and reinforced some old things with this book. I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE, because it tells what the art of witchcraft is about; not "Black Magic" or the Devil, or that we're "scary" or whatever else the stereotype is. This book is down to earth and very accommodating in this century.

inspiration for all,

I recently read this book because i happen to be a practicing pagan and i am currently writing a term paper on my religion. When i picked up this book i wasn't exactly sure of what to expect as some wiccan books are anything but interesting...however this book was anything but boring. It helped me learn new ways to better understand and appreciate everything in this beautiful religion, it gave me new ideas and ways of conducting spells. This book is truly sensational and i would recommend it to anyone no matter how young or old. Bringing me to another reason why i love this book because it is so easy to understand that i feel if i had read this book when i first became interested in the wiccan religion i believe it would have opened so many new doors to me. And it did even though i have been practicing the religion for quite some time now. It answered questions i never thought i had and it truly serves as an inspiration to me. I think every person should at least flip through this book because it's an incredible story of magic and spirtuality that is sure to intrique any reader.

Brief but comprehensive little book,
By J. Hamilton "avid reader of preternatural books" (Gloucester, Virginia, USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
This book is the best book that I have found on the subject of Wicca that just gives a brief yet comprehensive overview of the religion. It is perfect for anyone who is just beginning and wants to see if the craft is the right path for them. It also makes a great gift for friends and family members of witches who want to better understand what a witch really is and dispel all the myths, stereotypes and generalizations. At 153 pages it is just long enough to provide the basic principals and guidelines without going too in-depth to lose a lot of readers. It is very easy to read with relevant quotes and plenty of humor thrown in.
I gave it to my parents to read after I told them that I was a practicing witch and it helped them to better understand what that meant and to not be afraid that I had fallen in with some evil occult. They were able to see that Wicca is a religion that predates modern Christianity and that there is absolutely no devil in the craft.

This review is from: Simple Wicca (Simple Wisdom (Conari)) (Hardcover)
If you're at all interested in practicing witchcraft, this book will definitely make you want to delve further, so buy it first! Michele Morgan's warm, witty book gives the curious a wonderful introduction to Wicca. She manages to share the essence and beauty of Wicca without weighing the subject down in too too many details or 'requirements.' Best of all, she writes in such a way that it will make you feel free to relax and practice in a way that suits you best. Another plus is the excellent 'Recommended Reading List.'

I picked up Ms. Morgan's book at the local Books-A-Million while out with a friend. I am just beginning the practice and wanted to study up on the religion. This book has started off my journey in Wicca very well and is perfect for beginners and those who have been practicing for years. Insightful and earthy, this book lays it all out and really does keep it simple. I highly recommend "Simple Wicca."
