5.0 out of 5 stars One Huge Advantage, and the Hidden Equalizer Found July 31, 2014

SHUTTLE+ does offer one significant advantage over my stock Samsung player: It exits cleanly from memory when I either back-key out of the app with no music playing or [X] of the player from my notification/settings bar after using the back-key on the application (hitting the home-screen button to exit the player will still leave it in memory). My stock player just lingers there, apparently treated by the Android Task Manager as a system operation, never leaving, no matter what system resources other apps need, until I finally force close it. So, yeah, a clean exiting music player is pretty big.

I finally found the equalizer on my Samsung Tab 3 (thanks to zombman!) hiding under the least used button on my device, the physical More Settings button. Also offers a Sleep Timer, which my stock doesn't have. There is also a whole bunch of additional settings for the app, including default page opening and a WakeLock toggle, which is defaulted off. Nice foresight!

For phone users, there is also a neato option to set a song as your ringtone.

The Permissions are in general as needed although I initially had some issues with the "PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming" (aka simply as Wakelock). But as mention, this is actually defaulted off in the Settings sub-menu (the device's More Settings to reiterate).

Does contain AdMob adware, however. as far as I can tell, it's currently inactive. What does surprise me, in a good way, is the lack of any analytics. None. I would have been far more leery if there was analytics in the app, but since there isn't, that's a positive star in my book for certain. And there isn't anything else of concern in the code.

4.0 out of 5 stars i love this app... June 6, 2014

i started using it on my phone, then got it for my kindle hdx. it is simple to use and has lots of great features! i just wish it had a "normalize volume" feature... i get music from "various sources" and not all have the same volume level. the equalizer this player has works great... but i when i am running a big playlist, constantly having to adjust the volume level can be a PITA. also, i'd love to see it be able to play music off a network share instead of just off of the local media library, but i know i am just dreaming there :)

Overall this looks like a nice app and it has similar functionality to iTunes on an IOS system. This is a simple and basic music player that works. Unfortunately my tablet already has a music player that already does all of this in virtually the identical format. The one already on my tablet will also scan for local devices wirelessly including my servers and download the music lists and artwork automatically and this software will not do that. After downloading my music lists using my original software I can stream them wirelessly to my tablet and play them. I can also control my standard music player via voice commands. These features make this app look weak in comparison. I am disappointed that the app does contain Adware in the form of Google Mobile Ads. So far no ads have popped up while I was using the app.

This is a music app that lets you manage your music and play it. You can view it and look at your playlists, the recently added and your favorite songs. It can help to locate and download missing artist and album images for you. It will allow you to look at your music library and play the songs in shuffle mode or loop mode. You can even add Scrobbing into the functionality by adding Please note that if you add in Scrobbing it does use GPS to find local music events, it scans your contacts and accounts, and it can also use your calendar.

* read phone status and identity
* modify or delete the contents of your USB storage
* full network access
* view network connections
* view WIFI connections
* prevent tablet from sleeping
* change your audio settings
* modify system settings

This app contains Adware in the form of Google Mobile Ads.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good basic music player March 27, 2014

A good but basic music player. I do like the way it downloads album art automatically. Unfortunately, the equalizer doesn't work with my Galaxy S4.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great music player August 10, 2014

I've switched from my previous music player, Winamp.

This is similar, but it has features that edge out Winamp. For example, music turns down during GPS navigation instructions, rather than completely pausing the music., so that's a nice feature. Another feature is that album art will show up on the locked screen.

Great music player overall.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best music app yet for Kindle Fire HD 8.9!! July 31, 2014
Verified Purchase
I've used many music apps and they all lack something. They are either bloated and don't work right or they are too minimalistic for me. This app has everything I wanted. I can make a favorite list by tapping the star, change the color scheme, or share a song and it has an equalizer. This one also gets the album art for you!! It does everything I want a music app to do. The task bar buttons work great too when you use them to go to the next song, without having to open the app again. And it works great in the background. I'm thrilled with it. Best music app for FAOTD yet. Thank you Amazon and keep up the great work SimpleCity!! You made my day!! =0)
