5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy
I was waiting for a good deal on a 128MB secure digital card and the offer for this card came through my gold box coupon. I decided to give it a try since the price was so right, even without the rebate offer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Will Die, Don't Buy
It's very simple, everything I have ever owned by SimpleTech has died on me including this SD Card, 4 USB sticks, 1 Hard DRive, and 1 CF card. Not one of their products lasted me more than 2 years and caused me a lot of headache.

I was waiting for a good deal on a 128MB secure digital card and the offer for this card came through my gold box coupon. I decided to give it a try since the price was so right, even without the rebate offer.
I tried it out on my Kodak digital camera (DX4330) and it worked fine right from the start. With the card formatted, the camera said I had only about 103 pictures at the highest quality (3.1M pixels). But I think the camera just gives worst case scenario. I ended up taking about 175 test pictures at the high resolution. I downloaded the test pictures onto my computer and examined them carefully - they looked great with no problems whatsoever. Also, the total size of all 175 pictures was around 123MB. Guess I lost about 5MB, but I think that's expected. (With the same camera and a 64MB card, I never get more than 62MB of total pictures captured).
Sent in for my rebate and will update here when I get it. Even without the rebate I think that this was a great buy!
Update on rebate - got it about 8 weeks later. Took a little long, but it finally came. Really glad I decided to try this out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great card - but only 122 MB of memory, September 26, 2003

The card works great and had no problems using it. However, I did find that it only registers as 122 MB. I think the difference is that the card is not 128 MB, but rather 128,000,000 Bytes. Usually 1 MB is 1024 x 1024 Bytes. I think this should be clarified on the product description.

Another thing - even though Amazon's description states that it is over 10 MB/sec, the 128 MB is really only 2.5 to 3 Mb/sec. I think their 256 MB and 512 MB cards are faster. Check the online manual for details.

Other than that - no problem!

I am very happy with the SimpleTech SD card. I have found it to be an asset to My Minolta Dimage X. Not only does the SD card save your data but it also has a write protect switch on the side of the card to prevent accidental overwriting of important data.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got scared for a while there!..., July 22, 2003

I bought Simpltech's SD Card for my Palm Zire 71. After 3 days of recieving it My palm would no longer read it. Panic set in, I called upon Palm's web tech support and Simpletech's web support.

I am glad to say that Simpletech was very nice to me and they even offered replacing the card, Palm, on the other hand was populated with ignorant tech-support staff.

Why? because the day after I reported my trouble to palm, they released a patch for the Zire which resolves issues involving once working then no longer functional SD cards. Palm's Tech Support didn't even think of mentioning this fact to me.

Simpletech SUpport staff on the other hand had already assigned me an RMA, but minutes after that, they sent me an e-mail with reference to Palm's new patch for my zire... and Voila! problem solved!

The card in itself works great, read/write speeds are excellent, this card is a MUST HAVE for your palm!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dependable & Reasonably Priced, January 11, 2004

This review is from: SimpleTech STI-SD/128 128MB SecureDigital Card (Personal Computers)
Sandeep's review was informative, but for photographers like myself, I'm not going to be too concerned about a difference of 6 MB (actual 122 MB instead of 128 MB). All I'm concerned about is will the card retain the data in a consistent, accurate and dependable manner; not like what happened to the poor guy who lost his using a Sandisk memory card. The price is right, too. I've had this Simpletech 128 MB SD card for 2 years now, and haven't had one single problem with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great in my Palm - more storage!, August 18, 2002

Have had my new color palm for about 3 months and started to learn how to use it more. So storage has become an issue. Purchased the simple 128 mb sd card to keep family photos and map data, when I travel. The card has increased my data storage capacity enormously. Like it.

I bought one of these for my Magellan Meridian GPS (green / brown). It works flawlessly and is MUCH cheaper than the Magellan brand Secure Digital Cards. Note: depending upon what version of the firmware you have for your Magellan Meridian, you may need to upgrade to access this large of a memory card.

I've had this card for about 1 1/2 years now and it has performed flawlessly. It has seen thousands of photos (no exaggeration!) on my digital camera and now holds data/mp3s for my palm too. Did you know you can pop your SD card out of a camera and into a palm to view photos? I just learned this. Anyway it's a nice product and I'm about to get another SimpleTech with 512 megs or higher if they have one. If you are new to SD memory, always get more storage than you need because eventually you'll buy something that will use one (camera, handhelds, cell phones, etc. -- note that many cell phones use a smaller "MiniSD").
