Im a beginner/ intermediate in the sewing and I found this machine easy to use and not intimidating at all.

Once you get all three pieces fed through the tip (fabric, cord, fusible), hold it together and pull out about 6 inches across the heating element.

I work alot, so did not get a chance to use it within the first month I received it, so I lost out of returning this product.

I recently purchased this and used it for the first time last weekend. I sewed my strips together to make my binding, set up my little machine and it was done. I'm not sure it even took a full minute once I started the roller. It saved me least an hour or so of ironing and it did an awesome job. I have not tried the piping part of this yet so I'm not able to comment on it. You do need to be sure your seams are pressed open before you run it through. I missed one of my seams and it threw off the machine's pressing until the next seam rolled through, but then it was fine - and this was my error. The was the best $100 I have spent in a long time!

This machine was delivered last week and so I delayed my review until I could play with it all weekend. I find the machine and the extra tips I ordered all work perfectly. I made loads of bias tape just playing around with it this weekend. I do love that you can slow down the speed on it as it does go at warp speed when making bias and sometimes the fabric strip might shift if you don't keep an eye on things, there seems to be less chance of that if you slow down the machine. All the bias came out perfectly. I had no problems with the machine getting hung up on the seams in my fabric but then again as I ironed those seams open I also applied a light spritz of spray starch to them and that helped hold them flat, the technique also worked on the tiny tip I purchased, the seams went right thru the tip and machine perfectly.

As for the piping function, I played around with it and it does indeed make piping but it is kind of fiddly getting everything to work together as it should, again slow down the machine and keep an eye on it as you are doing piping and you shouldn't have any problems.

They could have done a better job on the instruction manual in my opinion, the pictures show you how to hook everything together, however in my manual it seems as if the printer was running out of ink and the pictures are blurry and too light to see anything really well.

All in all this was a good purchase and I am very happy to have the machine. I had read the reviews on the older machine and was considering canceling my order but it seems that the company listened and took care of the problems people were complaining about on this model. If you find yourself constantly having to stop and make bias the old fashioned way or always running to the store to find some in the color you need and having to settle for something not quite right, this could be the answer for you, you will be able to make the exact color and size of bias you need for all your projects.

I have mixed results with this product. It works great for making bias tape alone, but I use a lot of piping so I bought this one. It is very difficult to get the 3 components loaded into the tip for piping. Singer had a tutorial on the machine, but for this aspect it is not very helpful as it just shows it running, not how to load everything into the tip!

The manual directions on how to do this are VERY confusing. The trickiest part is getting the cording in. Here's how I ended up doing it. I would recommend loading the tip with the fabric and cording first before you slot the tip into place in the machine, then slot it in and run the fusing.

1. Your fabric bias strip feeds off the spindle and through the slot, insert it into the side area of the tip. There are little rectangular openings on the top and sides of the tip to help guide the fabric through - I use a stilleto here to push the fabric along toward the end opening. You should see the right side of the fabric on the top and the side of the tip, curving around to the bottom of the tip. This puts the fabric strip in place to receive the cording and fusible in the middle of it so it can wrap around the cording during heating.

2. The most difficult bit - inserting the cording through the tip. First of all, the tip that comes with the machine specifies using size 4/32" cording. At the time I only had 5/32" cording, and it worked fine. Insert one end of the cording through the hole in the slot, and then you want to guide it right along the side of the fabric on the tip, on the INSIDE of the fabric strip. It's a pretty tight fit. I found it helpful to wrap the end of the cord in a piece of tape to give it some stiffness.

I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews on this little doodad and went ahead and ordered! (Maybe those with a bad experience had an older model that still had some bugs to work out.) I had no problem assembling and operating, directions and diagrams were clear, and I was able to make both bias tape and piping the first go-round. This is a great way to customize your projects and give them a professional look.

A couple of useful hints:
(1) If you have a long piece of bias fabric joined with a seam for your working strip, iron the seam open before running it through the machine. It can get caught up if the fabric is too thick.

(2) Go ahead and order a couple of other tip attachments when you place your order, because you know you're going to want them!
The one included makes 1 inch bias, which may be a bit wide for some projects.
