Great Sewing Machine with a Great Price!,

This review is from: Simplicity SA2200 Creative Spirit Plus 45-Stitch Function Sewing Machine (Kitchen)
I have been searcing for a sturdy, heavy machine which is hard to find these days and I found one! This Simplicity Creative Spirit Plus is very sturdy and a smooth operating sewing machine. It does not move when you are sewing, unlike my other sewing machine which seems to want to walk or hop. The metal mechanisms/frame inside is also a plus. This machine has many nice features which includes lots of stitches. I also like the easy needle threading. It takes a couple of tries to get the hang of it but is very easy afterwards. It also makes a nice even, tight stitch. Another thing I love about this machine is that the wide removable free arm is placed in the front of the machine which gives you more room for your hands. This is also a storage compartment. This machine is very easy to thread and operate. The bobbin is very easy to get to and threads on the first try. Overall, this is a great machine at an unbeatable price!!

I do advanced sewing (formal wear, upholstery, etc.) as well as home repairs (mending, quilting). This machine is equiped to do everything I need. The button-hole stich is easy to use. The adjustable pressure dial for the foot clutch is great. I was happy to find several pressure feet came with the machine, including button-hole, blind hem, cording, and more. The stich functions are practicle and decorative and there are more than I will ever use. I've never used a Simlicity Machine before and am very pleased with the durability of the machine, with metal parts rather than the easily broken plastic. The only flaw is that you have to pay a shipping fee for the three free patterns.

Solid Machine and Easy to Use,

This college girl finally has her own sewing machine! This machine is solid and sturdy in build and comes with alot of accessories (various presser feet, bobbins, etc.) I am impressed at how easy it is to wind a bobbin, set a stitch pattern, and get to sewing. There are a few features which are quite cool - one being the easy threading function for threading the needle. It takes a couple tries to get used to it, but now I've vowed never to spend 5 minutes licking the end of the thread and jamming the thread into the tiny needle eye. Overall, the designers had us in mind when they built this machine. Also, after reading the manual, I feel like I'm much better educated knowing how each presser foot and stitch can be used. I'm completely satisfied with this purchase!

Can't Beat the Deal or the Machine,

I bought this machine to replace a Brother sewing machine that I had had for years and was a little leary at first because I had never heard of Simplicity making sewing machines. After having used it extensively already, I can say I definitly made the right choice. This machine sews a nice tight, even stitch through any material. I have already used it on silk, leather and at the opposite end, 4 layers of heavy blanket fleece. It doesn't balk!! It has a nice array of decorative stitches, does super easy button holes and the machine has a good "feel" to it while sewing. Another plus I was thrilled with was it comes with 10 bobbins, actually 11 if you count the bobbin with thread that arrives inside the bobbin case. In looking at various other brands, most came with 4 or 6 bobbins. Nice not having to unwind when you want different colors! The manual is easy to read and I like the at-a-glance sheet for what types of stitches take which settings. All in all, I got a great deal on this with free shipping and a rebate for a carrier as well and the machine comes with a form to receive 3 free patterns from Simplicity. I went to Walmart and looked through the pattern books, wrote the numbers of the 3 I wanted and within a week, I had received $38.00 worth of free patterns!! The only disadvantage I can even think of on this machine, is don't buy it for the automatic needle threader - you will likely be disappointed if you do. Mine works occasionally but the little metal prong that is supposed to fit through the eye of the needle, usually bends off to the side and I have to bend it back with a screw driver to get it to thread like its supposed to. Much faster to use a regular needle threader which you can buy cheaply in packs. I would recommend this machine to anyone of any level, it will do what you want it to!

I have never really sewed anything in my life, except for a brief home ec. class in Junior High some 30 years ago. I always wanted to try to sew but I was too intimidated. Finally I saw this machine with its reviews and thought I would take a chance. It came in only a few days, and in an hour I was sewing my first skirt. It is very easy to operate. The bobbin fell out of the case, and I had no trouble understading how to put everthing back in place. The instructions are very easy to understand. I am having the most fun learning this wonderful new skill on this machine. It is very user friendly. If you ever wanted to learn to sew but thought it was much too complicated, then this is the machine for you. With all the new fabrics, technology, and things that are available along with this machine, sewing is a great recreational activity. My only regret is that I waited so long to try it. This machine, the Simplicity sewing book for beginners, and the Simplicity web site is all you need.

I recieved this sewing machine from my husband for Christmas, He ordered it on the 4th of December and we received it on the 9th with the free shipping. So far this machine has been wonderful, I think that all of the instructions are very easy to read and understand, there are a lot of pictures of what they are instructing you to do and that is very helpful. The bobbin is very easy to get to and very easy to wind the thread onto. Threading the machine is very easy also, especially the automatic needle threader. The machine seems to be very well built and I would recommend this machine to anyone. I haven't done a lot of sewing in the past, mainly craft projects, but now since I have this new machine I would like to try some different sewing projects. With all of the stitches this machine has to offer and the ease of changing the presser feet it will be nothing but enjoyable.

Hi:
I purchased this machine about 1 1/2 months ago. I waited until my mother came to visit so she could give me some lessons. She is a seasoned sewer. Before she came out I read the instructions booklet and some sewing books before using the machine as well. I am a beginner sewer. I learned to thread the machine and change the bobbin before she got here. If you are a beginner I strongly suggest if you know a seasoned sewer to have them give you some lessons. It helped me immensely. Seeing someone do something rather than trying to follow a diagram is must better. I even understand the diagrams better now due to her lessons. In two weeks I learned to how to properly thread the machine (I was a tiny bit off), wind a bobbin, replace a bobbin, baste stitch, read a pattern (more like translate the tiny bit of instructions they give you), make homemade bias, attach bias, and sew relatively straight (I am still working on this) and oil the machine. I have even learned how to use the automatic threader. Here is the trick, the needle MUST be in its very highest position for the prong to be able to go through the eye and pull the thread out in a loop. If you have it in the highest position the prongs will surround the eye of the needle and there is a little metal piece that will pass through the eye pulling the thread back through and making the loop. If the needle is not in the highest position the little metal piece hits the needle instead of slipping through the eye. The machine has stitched very well and appears to working wonderfully. My mother said it stitched nicely and appears to be a very nice machine for what I plan to do. I am planning to make curtains, appliance covers, pillows, maybe a dress or two etc. I am not planning to make heavy-duty complicated items. I told her about some of the reviews from seasoned sewers that said the machine was not good. She indicated it depends on what you are used to sewing with. If you go from a $500 machine to a $150 machine you cannot expect the same performance. She stressed that for someone who wants to make decorator items for the home and some clothing items it is fine. I will say you need patience if you are a beginner. Take it slow, don't expect to make things in 10 minutes, get help form someone who is a seasoned sewer, and buy a good sewing 101 book. As my mom says, "the more you practice, the easier things get, and soon it will become second nature." I am happy with my machine and recommend it.

exactly what I was looking for,

I purchased this machine for my eight year old granddaughter and I am very pleased with it. I was looking for a machine that would give her ease of use, also decortive stiches for fun. The automatic needle threader was a must have, and I needed it easy to thread so she could do it herself. I really needed low cost and high function, well belive it or not I found it. I also had just bought a sewing machine for my youngst daughter (12 yrs old). I teach three young girls sewing and thanks to amazon for two of them they now all have new sewing machines. I sew on a janome memorycraft 9000, and I still would recomend this machine highly.

Don't let that picture fool you! This is a great machine, and it's not small and cheap like the picture makes it look...I got mine yesterday (a full week before it was due to arrive!). I thought I was taking a risk buying something like this online, without acually seeing it in action, but now that I've tried it out, I can't wait to start some of the big sewing projects I've been putting off! It's quiet, the pedal action is smooth, and it's easy to thread (be sure and read the directions first though!) I've been sewing on an old machine for quite a few years, and this one makes my old machine look like a dinosaur!

An exceptional machine at an exceptional price through Amazon - and free shipping, too! I compared it with retail stores and other internet stores and no one even came close to Amazon's price. It came within a week of ordering and is exactly as advertised. It's easy to understand the directions and to operate. I hope to get many years of use from it.
