Editorial Reviews

From the opening Track MP3 to the explosive Time Bomb the music takes the listener on a journey with songs about the up and downs of life. The lighthearted Cross My Heart tells the story of a musician on the road proclaiming one's commitment to love, while the songs Rise And Fall and So Divine speak of the supernatural and the loss of special friends. Songs like Flip Side and Life Is A River give a lyrical look at the dualities of life.
Simplicity by Tesla marks the return to their home grown roots from one of America's true rock and roll bands.

I'm 41 years old and when Tesla hit the scene I said "ahh....not so damn cookie cutter like ALL the other hair bands out"....."I LOVE THIS"!!!!!

Here it is blah blah blah years later since that epic 1986 release of Mechanical Resonance and I have to say.....Just like a ton of 80's movies, they NEVER get old and have 100% replay value thru the years.

Tesla is the number one band of only about a handful of "hair" bands I still listen too on a regular basis, and believe me, I had all the tapes of all the bands back when from Poison to Metallica and so on. Tesla is still the BOMB!!!!

This album, after only 1 listen had me smiling ear to ear and lovin everything I was hearing. A couple songs on here I'm not real fond of BUT I don't hit the skip button either so that tells ya something.

I'll be seeing them in concert here in July and I can't wait.

If you are even a small sort of Tesla fan I guarantee you will love this album. After so many years I have to say I'm pretty blessed these guys are still around putting out tunes that still kicka$$........!

I will say this album is 5 stars easy and only after one listen this album had me so stoked that Tesla is STILL one of the best bands out there.

Straightforward rock! Plain and simple just straightforward Rock n Roll.

MUST BUY ALBUM!!!!!

In general, my tastes in music tend to favor European metal like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, Saxon, Accept, and Hammerfall. But I’ve always had a soft spot for Tesla, becoming an instant fan after hearing Modern Day Cowboy way back in the day. I still maintain that they were one of the best American hard rock bands of that era, and I feel that they deserved to be at least as big as Motley Crue, if not the original lineup of Guns ‘n Roses. The Great Radio Controversy and Psychotic Supper remain weekend playlist staples around my house, especially during the summer back porch grilling and beer drinking season.

All that said, Simplicity is just a decent, workmanlike effort. I bought it shortly after the release date, but held off writing a review because my initial reaction was tepid. Give it time, I figured, maybe you’ll warm up to it. After many, many listens, my outlook on the album hasn’t changed much. If anything, I’ve cooled to it. As much as it hurts me to write this, I feel that it has to be done: Simplicity is just not that good. For an unknown band, it might be a decent first effort, but for a band with Tesla’s history and pedigree, it’s just borderline okay.

I thought Forevermore was a solid effort, although in retrospect, it didn’t hold a candle to the first four albums, and even paled in comparison to Into the Now. The band had a long layoff, lost Tommy Skeoch, and was getting back into the groove. I understood and was willing to forgive the lackluster element of Forevermore, hoping that the next album would be a return to the glory days. No such luck.

What happened? For starters, Simplicity is unevenly paced. It’s loaded up with ballads and semi-ballads. In fact, half the songs fall into this category.

I'm 30 years old and enjoy listening to music that doesn't have that modern mainstream sound. Tesla doesn't sound like any modern band that's out their currently. I play guitar so I love hearing all the guitar riffs and solos in this album. If you like enjoyable rock music you should check this album out. You won't regret it.

If you're a true Tesla fan, you'll love the new record!! The guys are back with the typical sound from the band that we fell in love with in 1986. Jeff's vocals are awesome...as usual, and the band sounds great. Great guitar work from Frank & Dave. Brian lays down great bass parts, and Troy keeps the rhythm pumping. Being a long time fan of the band, you come to realize that although the lyrics sometimes come off as basic and cliche, it doesn't matter. IT'S TESLA!!! That's why we love them!!!They are so pure and true, that's part of the appeal of this great band. Some songs don't grab you right away, but if you listen to the cd a few times, they grow on you like a fine wine. In this day and age, it's so hard to find a band you grew up with, that continues to churn out music, and to continue being a soundtrack to your life. I'm so grateful that this band continues on, even if the genre of music they're known for, or get lumped into, isn't what's popular nowadays. These guys make music that's straight up rock n' roll!! They do it for themselves, and for the fans that stick by them!! After all, isn't that what rock n' roll is all about!?!? Do yourself a favor, buy this cd!! You won't regret it, and you'll help show a great band your appreciation for great music. Enjoy!!!

Yes! I love it! I see a number of reviews slamming or criticizing Tesla's new album Simplicity and I wonder, "Why?" Who are these people to opine such? Would they rather Tesla stopped making music altogether? I don't know about anyone else, but I believe we've played that game already and I for one didn't much care for it. I much prefer the way things are now, with fresh Tesla every now and then, adding spice to life.

14 full length songs and still some are not satisfied. Granted, a number of these songs had to grow on me and some took some time but grow they did. And I can promise you, from the bottom of my heart, that my affection and my affinity for this disc only continue to grow stronger as time goes on. Those who shrug this off and dismiss it after only 1 or 2 listenings are the ones who are missing out; give Simplicity a chance to grow on you. This truly is a top-notch effort by these guys and I really do enjoy it tremendously. Lots of people die with their music still inside of them. Tesla is still saying, after all these years, that they are going to continue releasing 'Their Sound' to the Ages - they refuse to die with their music still inside of them.

It appears that's not good enough for some, but happily I can tell you it's good enough for me. True, there are a number of songs on Simplicity that are not 'Full-Throttle ROCK YOU Tesla' as many fans were probably hoping for, myself included, but there are plenty of rockers. Just look at the song "So Divine": #24 of the Top 100 Hard Rock Songs Of 2014 at HardRockDaddy.com (https://hardrockdaddy.wordpress.com/2014/12/31/top-100-hard-rock-songs-of-2014/). What's to be concerned about? Is Tesla still rocking? I think it's been PROVEN to be just so! Can you say, "Awesome!
