Top Shelf, December 13, 2003
This review is from: Simplicity Y2K (Audio CD)
I bought this CD back in the winter '02 and this is the best chill out CD that I have. I have a lot of chill out music and people that don't even listen to this music have been begging me to make a copy for them. I tell them that I paid a lot of money and waited for over 2 months for this CD to arrive from Europe and it is worth every penny and they need to get it themselves. I would highly reccomend this disc to anyone who likes good music without regard to genre. You will agree that this is fine music. This disc just has class written all over it. If you like Weekend players, you gotta get it. The disc is bangin'.

"Simply" a different level of music, February 11, 2002
This review is from: Simplicity Y2K (Audio CD)
As a born American, I must say that this CD goes a long in proving to me that the best music in the world comes out of Europe.
The shy, but stunningly beautiful Rachel Lloyd leads most of the tracks on this compilation masterpiece. Her voice is incredibly smooth yet penetrating as you can feel the full range of her emotions in every verse of each song.
"Breather (Arithunda Mix)" is an upbeat remix that can make any bad day seem like you just won the lottery. Yet the conversation tone of the original version can cause one to feel wrapped in a state of blissful passion.
"Falling" is another amazing cut in which Rachel's passionate, conversational style pulls you into a state of how it must feel to deeply desire someone who may not even know that you exist.
The instrumental cuts "Blue Bar" and "Dub In Ya Mind" (Ibizzarres Insatiable Mix) allow one to transport themselves to any spiritual place of solitude.
Finally, "Cry" (Factor 15 Sunset Dream Dub) is one of the best songs that I have ever heard. The Flamenco guitar style is amazing, but the lyrics seal the deal for me everytime:
"I wish upon the reasons for myself.
I ask you for a reason I was there.
I asked you --knowing now I'm lonely--then.
I had called upon you there,
the reasons for I know that,
I was once setting sail on your ship.
You questions.
The reasons.
I cry."
Do yourself a favor and buy this CD.

Beautiful Balearic Bliss, May 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Simplicity Y2K (Audio CD)
The Hed Kandi label is hands down, the most consistent label I have ever come across. Their flagship artist is Afterlife, and after hearing "Simplicity 2000" in its entirety you will see what I'm talking about. This is music for the beach, for the bath, for whatever it is that you do to kick it. Sara Rapnell's vocals are absolutely beautiful. The production on this double disc album is through the roof. It has a very crisp, Balearic vibe that calls to some distant island off the shores of Spain. You'll find a lot of flamenco guitar, very nice breakbeats with the occassional drum and bass track, waves breaking, wind through hair, sand between the toes, while listening to this album. Seriously, grab this one if you can find it.
