Product Description

The Dvorak layout is spread onto transparent - matt sticker, with blue color. Dvorak studied letter frequencies and the physiology of people's hands and created a layout to adhere to these principles: • It is easier to type letters alternating between hands. • For maximum speed and efficiency, the most common letters and digraphs should be the easiest to type. This means that they should be on the home row, which is where the fingers rest, and under the strongest fingers. • Likewise, the least common letters should be on the bottom row, which is the hardest row to reach. • The right hand should do more of the typing, because most people are right-handed. • It is more difficult to type digraphs with adjacent fingers than non-adjacent fingers. • Stroking should generally move from the edges of the board to the middle. An observation of this principle is that, for many people, when tapping fingers on a table, it is easier going from little finger to index than vice versa. This motion on a keyboard is called inboard stroke flow. The Dvorak keyboard layout became easier to access in the computer age. Currently, all major Operating Systems (such as Apple OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux and BSD) ship with Dvorak keyboard layout in addition to the standard QWERTY layout. So far, DSK has failed to displace the QWERTY standard. Clear transparent background makes stickers invisible, and allows existing characters to show through. These stickers took a while to install but it was easy to do. I missed up on 2 keys and realized it 5 minutes later but they easily came off and it was possible to reinstall them; they now have some gray places though. I washed my keyboard before installing this. Right after the installation all of them had spots of gray but after a few hours they all turned mostly transparent expect for the 2 letters I missed up on. They also fit my Dell Inspiron keyboard perfectly with gaps for the G and J keys marks and you get used to the feeling quickly. This is a really good product and I would recommend this for anyone that wants to learn the dvorak keyboard for a cheap price. The only concern is if the letters on your keys aren't printed on the upper left hand corner of your keys, because then the letters on the stickers will cover them. But then again we all can probably touch type qwerty already.

I have applied stickers to four or five different keyboards by now. The one thing that I learned was that it is easier to get the application just right if you use a pair of Tweezers , preferably the ones with the curve at the tips. They cost less than five dollars and they help immensely.

When I received the product the stickers were cut through the letters. Whenever I pulled a sticker from it's card, half of the letter would detach which made the product pretty much worthless to me. I believe that this was probably the result of an error during the printing process and a lack of inspections before the product was shipped.

The stickers were shipped quickly and were in good condition (other than the above issue) upon arrival.

There is not much choice out there for Dvorak converts, so I was glad to find a more sensibly priced sticker set. It fits perfectly on my Dell keyboard, blue characters look good and make it easy to distinguish from the QWERTY designations. The only hiccup is the surface of the sticker: fingers feel a bit slippery on it. The plastic of the keys (on my keyboard at least) has a better feel. But this is just a matter of getting used to.

A year ago, I'd gone with the higher priced stickers made by the competitor. Over the last few months those started slipping and peeling. I'd already learned to touch type Dvorak by this time, but I still need the crutch of the stickers for those times when I'm on the phone and have to type in a password one handed.

This sticker is much thinner than the competitor's sticker, but I actually think this is better because it has a much more natural feel for retaining the curvature of key faces if your keyboard key faces are slightly concave.

There is also the additional bonus of the cut outs/gaps for the index finger home keys. I had to trim and cut the competitor's stickers to fit the home keys the last time around, so this is a major convenience for this installation.

Prior to installation, I removed the old stickers, thoroughly cleaned the surfaces with Goo Gone to remove the old adhesive. Having an X-acto knife or a pair of tweezers to hold on to a corner of the sticker makes things so much easier to accurately place the stickers.

These stickers are targeted for full size keys. There is a nice 0.5 mm margin all around when placed centered on the key face, so I suspect that the reviewer who was saying that they overhang may have smaller sized keys.

Only time will tell the longevity of this set of stickers, but currently I am very happy with installation and quality of these, especially for being half the price as compared to the competitor.

I am a freelance writer and editor, often spending nine to ten hours a day on the computer. Carpal Tunnel was beginning to set in, so I looked around for alternatives. Dvorak seemed to be worth a shot, and the stickers were relatively cheap.

It was a decision I do not regret making.

They worked well and helped me learn Dvorak, but some of the placements of the letters required that I cut them so they don't cover some existing letters on my lenovo W500 keyboard but still worked well.

It was an inexpensive way to convert my qwerty keyboard into dvorak. Even though it says matte, it's VERY reflective. It's difficult to see the letters looking straight down. I did't put on all of the stickers because they weren't necessary. For example the number row is exactly the same. The letters originally on my keyboard are in the center of the keys, but it's not really a problem because there's little to no overlap. Overall, it's a decent product that will get the job done.
