Product Description

The Fingerist by Even no is a Guitar Body Simulator for iPhone and iPod Touch. The Fingerist is a new style iPhone/iPod touch accessory that enables you to play your applications as if you are actually playing musical instruments. This music adapter has a built-in speaker that operates on 3 AA batteries which will enable you to perform 6-hour stage live. iPhone/iPod touch can be a little small to play music on and may limit your finger movements, however The Fingerist will firmly hold iPhone/iPod touch for you and you will be able to concentrate on your performance. Since it has a built-in line-out for a guitar amplifier you just need to plug in the amplifier and adjust the volume to enjoy a live performance. You can perform as a Fingerist in a band with other core guitarists. iPhone 3G/3GS and iPod touch?2nd/3rd?firmly fit to The Fingerist with silicone case which is included in the package. The Fingerist can be used as an audio speaker when you simply want to play music louder.

Mine arrived yesterday and, when used with PocketGuitar on an iPhone 3G is just plain fun. It's well-built, the case is sturdy and it works very well.

I was given this as a gift, and thankfully the giver paid $25 for it; if it were accurately priced, it'd be about $10 to $12. To be fair, this was the perfect gift for me, as I love playing around with my iPhone and I also love weird instruments--and I love this, but primarily because it's so amazingly dumb.

The Fingerist is a 17-inch, guitar-shaped, big chunk of plastic with a speaker in it. To be clear: This is exactly the same thing (and sound quality) as those little $5 iPod speakers you see at your local drugstore; it just happens to be shaped like a guitar. Oh, and let me tell you--when you put the 2¢ strap on your big chunk of plastic and wear it, you're going to feel like a complete Rock Star...oh, I meant "idiot."

The Pros:
--The construction is pretty good--there's quality strap pins at either end, and the volume pot has a nice, high-end feel to it when you turn it.
--The unit has a solid feel; if you drop it, it probably won't break.
--The case, though clearly manufactured for something else (there's unexplained loops meant to hold something inside the cover), is relatively well constructed, which is important since you wouldn't want to damage your big chunk of plastic.

The Cons:
--There's a switch that allows you to change from speaker to a line out for a guitar amp (wait, you got this for the built-in speaker, right?). You can also use it for headphones--so that you can listen to your phone just as you would if it wasn't in The Fingerist.
--Of course, the jack is for a 1/4" plug (your iPhone headphones are 1/8" so you're out of luck unless you get an adapter).
--The big chunk of plastic is solely powered by AA batteries; no external power in.

What makes this *almost* good is its sheer comedy value.
