More About the Author
After falling in love with a sampler quilt pattern in the late 1990's, Kim taught herself the steps needed to make it, and was forever hooked on quiltmaking. Her second quilt was of her own original design, and with her third quilt, she became the winner of a contest sponsored by a national quilting magazine, turning her life down a whole new and unexpected path.
Kim's very favorite quilts have always been those sewn from simple tried and true patchwork designs, especially when combined with appliqué, and she loves designing and stitching these traditionally-inspired quilts using modern techniques for the perfect blend of old and new.
Kim's work has been featured in numerous national and international quilting magazines. Her easy quiltmaking and invisible machine appliqué techniques led to an extensive national teaching schedule for several years, and she continues to travel and teach on a limited basis. In addition to authoring her "Simple" series of books with Martingale & Company, Kim has designed several fabric collections for Henry Glass & Co., enabling her to be involved in the full circle of quiltmaking from start to finish - what a wonderful experience for a girl who began her journey wondering if she had what it took to make a single quilt!
