Just bought this set about a month ago. Have enjoyed using it so much, that I'm cooking everyday. This is an achievement. Usually my favorite method of cooking is drive-thru. First, the saute pans are non-stick, and therefore should not be put in the dishwasher. Fortunately, if you can operate a paper towel then 90% of your clean up is done. Again, nothing sticks so clean up is not a hardship (melted cheese just wipes off). The stainless pots have also offered no problem in the clean up area and can be put in the dishwasher, but can be cleaned by hand in the time it takes to load and unload the dishwasher. Finally, food cooks evenly and it looks good doing it. Yeah, it's only a 10 year warranty, but it cost what, $200? Have yau seen what they charge for those high end sets? I mean seriously, who is paying $700 for pots and pans?

For almost two years I've had this set, along with a few others in the same product line that I've also purchased. I use at least a few of these daily. They have great weight and balance, good heat distribution, are easy to clean (especially the nonstick pans), and are very reasonably priced. Before purchasing, I considered the tri-ply pans, however the handles were terrible, especially when trying to hold the additional weight of the pans themselves. Plus they are more expensive - not worth the price for the tri-ply. I'd definitely recommend this set of Simply Calphalon pans to anyone - great product and good price.

this set has been a pleasant surprise. the pans are nice and hefty, like a much higher-priced product. i was a little nervous about the quality because i have seen the calphalon at target and it doesnt compare. this is a great set for those will the all-clad taste but the farberware budget.

I love this set!! I've purchased less expensive sets in the past that have always started to fall apart after the first year of regular use, and they could never be used in the oven. These are heavy duty pans with solid glass lids that look great, heat evenly and clean up quickly, and the price is reasonable. And to those of you who feel "lied to" - the insert clearly makes a distinction between the various types of Calphalon cookware, and putting the stainless pans in the diswasher WILL NOT void the warranty. The non-stick omelet pans do need to be hand washed, but that has been the case with every non-stick pan I've ever owned.UPDATE 10/10/09: I've had these for a couple years now and taken good care of them, and they still look and perform as well as they did when I first got them. The stainless pans are practically indestructible, and as long as you take care of the non-stick pans (hand wash, no metal utensils) they'll last for years. Well worth the price!!

This is a great set of cookware. the thick bottom means that you won't burn soups. As for the dishwasher, it doesn't ruin the pans. They come out fine. If these can go into a hot oven, how is hot water going to hurt them? (it just doesn't make any sense). My cooking comes out so much better with these pans. Eggs and pancakes cook wonderfully; no burning, no uneven cooking.

We received another set for our wedding, but I am considering taking it back to Macy's where this Calphalon 10 piece set was on sale for $399.00 this weekend. Same set, same pieces!! I can't believe it. These pans feel great are durable but won't weigh you down while you are cooking--The analon advanced brand I got is so heavy!!Yesterday, I paid $99.99 for just the 12 inch Calphalon fry pan and I feel it was worth it given how much I have used the 10 inch so far. These are the only two pieces I have from this calphalon collection so far, but I want more. Oh and although they say not to use this particular nonstick line in the dishwasher, you'd be totally lazy if you had too because cleanup is so easy with these!! It's amazing.

I got this set many months ago when it was even cheaper than it is now. It has taken me awhile to come to the conclusion that this is the best set of cookware I've ever owned. Now, I'm like many people who "SHOP" for products. I did my homework and there is no doubt that all-clad is the best. I considered all-clad and have several pieces, but Calphalon is by far the best set for the money. I mean, come on, $1000???. I can't afford that, and if I could I'd like a chef to come with it. And another thing, I'm not super gentle with my pans and for the price of this set I don't feel guilty about banging them around. For cooking in stainless steal I have been on a learning curve. I've done a great job cooking with these pans. They heat fast, cook evenly, and maintain heat. So far the only part to get too hot to the touch is the handle on top of the glass lid. Oh yea, I love the glass lid :o) To be able to see the food cooking without having to let heat out to peek is wonderful. Cooking is fast with these pans as proof that I didn't exactly burn my clam chowder tonight, but I did stick it to the bottom because my timing was off. Hey, I'm still learning. Stuck/burned food cleaned up fast and easy. I couldn't believe how the chowder came off the bottom with a tiny bit of scrubbing. People complain about staining...I tested this problem. I got some color change when I just hand washed a pan. I tried scrubbing the stain out and it wouldn't budge. I got barkeepers friend and the discoloration just came right out. I don't like the smell of barkeepers friend and I don't trust that is cleans the pan, so I only use it get out the discoloration that appears once in awhile. Keep in mind that these pans are easy to clean, but every so often you will get a stain. As for washing in the dishwasher or hand washing, I don't know. I don't have a diswasher yet. It's sitting in a box waiting for plan approval from the city for my new kitchen. Until then I love love love my calphalon stainless pans. I cook on a hot plate with them and wash them in my bathroom sink. When I get my dishwasher I'll update this review as to how I feel. But then again, I've always been one to hand wash my knives, pots/pans, and china, I'm not sure if I could stick these in the dishwasher. I recommend this set to everyone. And for the price of under $200 ($150) if you catch the super deal these are the best bang for the buck and then some.

First of all, LOVE the heat-resistant handles!!! Slow to heat (on electric range w/ceramic top), but heat distributes evenly & persists to keep food warm. Durable, but only modestly heavy (much lighter than cast iron), AND very quick to clean :) Non-stick pans lovely, but delicate surfaces (no metal utensils). Appears dishwasher safe to us (after several washings). Overall, very pleased with peformance for the monetary investment.

I bought the Calphalon simply stainless cookware 12 piece set (not offered any more?) and a couple extra open stock pieces over two years ago. It arrived within days with no shipping charge. This is the greatest cookware set I've ever owned. Sticking food is NOT a problem, and the cookware maintains a lovely appearance with really no special care. All the saucepans are stainless, but the 8- and 10-inch fry pans have a non-stick finish. The glass lids were a requirement, and I wouldn't ever go back to metal lids again. I would recommend this set, this line, to anyone who wants a nice-looking, nice-functioning cookware set that can go into the dishwasher. I would definitely buy this again, but I think this set will work well for years and years.

When we moved here from Italy, I promised myself a *good* set of cookware. I saw a recommendation for this on the Flylady-related "Saving Dinner" site. While I was dubious, I didn't have any reason to get anything else, so I tried it.I absolutely love this set. I use it for *everything*. It cleans up like a breeze and never sticks. I cannot imagine having to go back to my old stuff. I'm also amazed at the quality for the price - I was expecting good decent stuff, but nothing this solid and well-made. I cannot recommend this set highly enough. The only thing I've added is an insert for straining pasta (which fits into the pot quite nicely). I've used the set daily for 2 years now (and I am anything but gentle with my kitchen utensils) and it looks almost new. UPDATE: It's 2009 now. I'm so in love with stainless steel cookware because of this set that I've been using daily for several years, that my DH agreed with my decision this spring to upgrade to AllClad. My trusty Simply Calphalon set will be passed along to someone else who needs a good, solid, usable set of stainless. It's still just as easy to clean as the first day I got it. The thing about "dishwasher safe but not recommended" is just that, after you dishwasher it, sometimes it has a bit of rainbowing or "stain" in the pans. Big deal. I rarely toss mine in the dishwasher anyway since they're so easy to clean up. My one complaint over the years is that the rivet on one of the pots (the biggest skillet) has come loose a bit. The primary reason I'm upgrading is due to my new induction cooker - I want cookware now that all works on induction, which the Calphalon stuff doesn't (some does, some doesn't). Summary: this is the best set for anyone who doesn't want to (or can't) fork out the dough for All Clad. Add good cutlery (like Global), and a decent bakeware set and you're set. |
