I Love this pan!,

Along with other pieces of this line of cookware. Gosh, guys, I hate to disagree, but I often put this pan into the dishwasher; I've experienced no discoloration yet. I've only had it about 2 years. I vowed I would never again buy ANY piece of cookware that couldn't go into the dishwasher. I chose stainless steel after observing how well my Mom's cookware has held up after almost 50 years of use, probably 40 of those being put in the dishwasher. She has never had a problem with discoloration. Maybe it's the detergent I use (Kirkland brand powder from Costco), or the fact that I never soak it in water. I love how evenly this pan cooks the food. The weight of the stainless steel is such that the food doesn't burn easily, even while I have gotten used to cooking on a gas stove! I also love how I can use any utensil on it, and don't have to worry about scratching. Clean-up is easy if you choose to wash by hand, and I have never had a problem with even the nastiest mess coming off in the dishwasher using the pots & pans setting. Don't waste your money buying any other cookware. This line 'Simply Stainless' by Calphalon is a bargain, a workhorse, and to top it off: simply beautiful.

You'll actually find that ALL high quality stainless steel cookware should not go into the dishwasher. Read your dishwasher detergent package. It says "may discolor stainless steel". Since the warranty is also against discoloration, you shouldn't put your pots and pans in the dishwasher. Never ever put teflon in the dishwasher either. The teflon delaminates and will get into your food. If you don't care about the color of your pans, go ahead and try it, it won't damage them other than that. However, you'll probably find that only non-warranty stainless steel cookware allows dishwasher washing.-the chef

I love this pan. I've owned it for a couple of years (2, maybe 3). It's by far my favorite pan. It's large enough to cook several pieces of chicken breast at the same time (no more cold pieces!), it's a breeze to clean, food doesn't stick, food browns beautifully, goes in the oven, what more could I want?! The stainless steel also means it's a breeze to deglaze the pan! This was the first "nice" pan I ever bought and I have to admit it's spoiled me-- I wish all my pans were this nice. This pan is heavy and big, but I think that's a good thing-- I just have a small sink so it can be kind of a pain. I use this pan when cooking for 2 and when cooking for 8. Whatever meat I have, I can brown and then add vegetables. I swear I think the food tastes better in this pan.

I purchased this product in a retail store. The packaging clearly states it is dishwasher safe. Then after you unpack it, and read that if you put it in the dishwasher you void the ten year warranty! Do not make the same mistake I did, avoid this product.
