2.0 out of 5 stars Funeral Planning - Is this really a kit?
I have to agree with another reviewer of this book that this not a "kit", but simply a book with guidelines for planning a funeral. The book leaves out many important factors necessary to make good funeral planning decisions. The author is very qualified in his field and based on that I would have expecetd a better book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Step-by-step instructions for funeral arrangements, February 13, 2003
This review is from: Simply Essential Funeral Planning Kit (Paperback)
In writing Simply Essential Funeral Planning Kit, author Don S. Cochrane draws upon his fifty years of professional assisting people as a funeral director, counselor, educator, and administrator. Specifically designed and written for the non-specialist general reader, Cochrane provides step-by-step instructions for funeral arrangements for oneself, a friend, or a family member. All of the pertinent details are clearly and accessibly discussed including the three phases of a funeral; the different types of services available; the availability of professional assistance; the costs involved; documenting information for the family; as well as the emotional, cultural, and legal considerations relevant to a memorable funeral service. Enhanced with an accompanying computer disk containing the forms referred to in the book, Simply Essential Funeral Planning Kit is a strongly recommended addition to community library collections, and an invaluable guide for anyone charged with the responsibility of funeral arrangements for others, -- or who want to make their wishes known for their own funeral service when their time comes.

This not a "kit", but simply a book with guidelines for planning a funeral. I sent it back and received another copy---no disk included in that one, either! So, buyer beware.
The book seems to be very helpful and practical and I would recommend it on that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Simply Essential Funeral Planning Kit, May 27, 2004
By

This review is from: Simply Essential Funeral Planning Kit (Paperback)
In Quang Dong Province, a young boy is laid to rest, the victim of
attack dogs sent to kill his father. Instead they killed him. The elders mulled over how to memorialize him. Was this death accidental or premeditated. In killing the boy did they kill the father? Did the boy deserve to be eaten by the dogs, for all knew he would grow up to be the same man as his father was. A fortnight of discussion, debate, argument and dismay fell upon the village. The young courtesans kept the body soaked in coconut water and wrapped dried jasmine leaves
round the corpses head to deter the maggots. They made offerings to the spirit who inhabited the old mill. Finally someone bought Don Cochrane's book and figured out how to properly plan the funeral. Thanks to this book, the elders made the right choice and lived happily ever after. The End.
