4.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly Original Cast, March 18, 2008

Excellent musical score and happy to see this issued again. Claudia McNeil is wonderful and the score is not great but very enjoyable with excellent lyrics. Refreshing and a nice addition to my collection.

2.0 out of 5 stars Simply, Heavenly, June 27, 2008

For anyone who cares to collect any and all cast recordings from the mid twentieth century, then "Simply Heavenly" is for you. Although I characterize "Simply Heavenly" as a grade B musical (as compared to such
A-list musicals as "The Pajama Game" or "The Most Happy Fella"), it does have many charms. The score is a notch above those other B (or C musicals) "Ankles Away" or "Seventh Heaven." Many of the songs are lively and catchy or bluesy, and the performances are consistently engaging. Two noteworthy additions are monologues performed by Melvin Stewart, who is one of the two stars listed below the title. The other star is Claudia McNeil, whose deep, robust yet alluring voice is great to hear in a performance before her more noteworthy role of the Momma in "A Raisin in the Sun."
