a gem!,

This review is from: Simply Logical (Paperback)
The author Peter Flach has contributed a lot to the logic-based AI literature, in particular in abduction and induction.
As expected, this book devoted some sections to abduction and inductive learning, illustrated by Prolog code. I find the inductive reasoning chapter particularly helpful. If you find the book hard to understand -- I skipped the introductory chapters so I don't know -- you may try Ivan Bratko's Prolog textbook.

Simply Incomprehensible!,

This review is from: Simply Logical (Paperback)
The author of this book may be a great logician, but he compunicates his ideas extremely badly, making this book agonisingly difficult to read. The author is clearly not a native English speaker, and avoids explaining any concepts in depth, instead using page after page of Prolog code to demonstrate principles. This tiny book really isn't worth the paper its printed on. |
