Watch the short interview with frontman Mick Hucknall's brief introduction to his latest live and career direction before you start on the show. You can easily relate comfortness and confidence to the established singer who hasn't lost the originality of his credit for the band yet still going creative from one album to another.

HOME LIVE IN SICILY is all about relax, be honest and offer the audience a great night to remember how the band had written so many beautiful songs in 2 decades to enchant the life of any ordinary people.

The opening track SOMEDAY IN MY LIFE is an Italian rendering of the original version, appropriately dedicated to the full, passionate Sicilian crowd. Dressed casually in a simple white short sleeved shirt with jeans may he had, Hucknall never slipped by any number of songs casually in the entire show. The Stylistic's YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW is Hucknall's serious singing with energetic vocal power. Nonstop uptempo session of FAKE, THRILL ME to SOMETHING GOT ME STARTED reminds us the New Romantic band has still got what it takes to groove up the dance floor. At the end, FAIRGROUND and SUNRISE left the seemingly solemn audience in front seats all shake and twist themselves with anticipation to the funky live jazz music.

The bonus feature of this DVD is that it provides users 2 choices of viewing angle on the entire run of the concert, on condition than one's player is equipped with the angle function. Users can swop between the multi angle and the upfront angle on Hucknall (called Mick Cam here) any moment throughout the show.

For the fans who discovered Simply Red in early 90's till late, this DVD is fulfilling and worth collecting indeed.

This is without a doubt the best Music DVD of 2003. With it's stunning location and setting, this DVD will leave you enthralled. Mick Hucknall is at his best, with a voice that compliments a line up of fabulous musicians. The sound that fills this Greek theatre, in Taormina in Sicily is Simply Wonderful, with the Italian crowd enjoying every minute of it. It certainly makes a good nights viewing, and the songs, both old and new leave you wanting more. For anyone who has bought this DVD will agree, that this is one concert you'll want to watch over and over again. This DVD has been given high ratings all over the world, so for anyone who has not yet purchased a copy, get one now, you won't be disappointed.

Mick loves his audience. His gift of bringing good talent together to celebrate great compositions is making us FEEL BRAND NEW all over again. We've missed SR so much lately, and the recent world tour and new CD HOME and DVD LIVE IN SICELY bring us THE BOSS live and back into our lives. Fans, you won't be disappointed. New listeners will not only love these, but will purchase the 20 years of classic Simply Red music. Have a great time watching the Live concert in Italy on DVD. I've had dvds of Simply Red in the past but wasn't really happy with the sound or video quality BUT THIS DVD will really knock your shoes off. This is the best among all of Mick's concerts when it comes to Video & Sound Quality. The picture and sound quality is simply amazing !!!

On the first day that I got this dvd, I watched it six times and that was just the first day ... You will never regret buying this dvd. As always, Mick is very passionate when it comes to performing in front of a crowd.

This is a MUST HAVE concert dvd in my humble opinion.

This is a great show, great and interesting DVD..beautiful setting for the concert. The audio is good but expect only sound from the front and center speakers. You won't hear much from the surround speakers at all (not even the audience' applause at the end of each song...). I don't know who did the surround sound mixing but it is pretty bad if you compare it to other DVD concerts with DTS 5.1 surround options (check Peter Gabriels DVDs, Elton John's recent Box Set and even Rolling Stones latest DVD set) and you will see what I am talking about.

Don't get me wrong...the sound is acceptable but don't expect a fully 5.1 surround mix nor in Dolby Digital nor in DTS.

Mick Hucknell's exceptional voice is like a total body massage to my ears! His performance is unbelievably perfect. As he performs each song, his love of performing the music and love of the audience is obvious. I've never seen any performer so HAPPY while performing. He is "Simply Joyous". And the fun he is having on stage is contageous. The person who spent their entire comment here selling a projector...totally missed the entire point of the concert. So sad. I am lucky to have a widescreen HDTV and Bose sound system...and he used every inch and sound available! As a side note to anyone who wondered why Mick Hucknell performed in Italy, Italy has been his BEST venue over the years. Nearly every album released has done better there than any place else. THEY love him...and so do I. His is the best voice for the past 100 years...performing live...and NEVER missing a single note. Many of my other fave groups would do well to perform ONE song without missing notes. Mick is EXCEPTIONALLY talented. His backup band/singers are also great performers. We are blessed to be able to see and hear these concerts. PS: I am very happy he recently became a dad. I'm sure it will inspire even greater music from him.

It's been a while since I listened to Simply Red on CD, but that's going to change effective NOW! I bought this DVD without any expectations other than watching Mick Hucknall perform his standards. I was blown away!! I highly recommend watching the documentary before watching the concert. It started out great and simply got greater over the 90 minutes that Simply red performed. His band is exceptional! It was interesting watching the crowd at the beginning of the show and subsequently standing and participating with every song. His talent and the bands tightness created a masterpiece with "You Make Me Feel Brand New." The concert continued uphill. Bravissimo! Not having the opportunity to attend, the next best thing was watching this DVD. It renewed my faith in music.

Excellent picture and clear digital sound quality make this DVD a collectors item for any Simply Red fan! Mick sings all the major hits and does it live in Italy...outdoors,under the stars, in a beautiful environment. The band is tight and so are his vocals...this is a far better product than the DVD Simply Red released only a few years ago...that one had very poor sound quality and was not worth 10 cents. You won't be disappointed with this disc...check out his fantastic performances of "You Are Everything", "Home" and "Fairground".
As they used to say...."they're worth the price of addmission".

Simply Red - Home (Live in Sicily)

I first saw this performance on DIRECT TV channel 101 -- I have always been a SIMPLY RED fan but this performance blew me away. When I found a DVD of this live performance of many of the group's (what I consider) most loved songs I didn't hesitate to buy it -- I probably should buy at least two more as I play this DVD almost every day and I'd like one for my car so I can listen while a drive. ALTHOUGH lead singer (and undoubtedly the band's musical inspiration) Mick Hucknall seems to be the star -- the musicians behind him are unbelieveable!! YOU may think I am giving this TOO MUCH hype -- but believe me -- once you LISTENED to this performance, then WATCHED it, you will understand and feel just like me. GREAT EXAMPLE for anyone under the age of 20 who weren't around when this band first starting performing and FANTASTIC for jazz lovers.

Although I hadn't listened to Simply Red in quite a long time, it was a great experience listening and and even better experience watching them in concert on this dvd! Even though this was an outdoor concert, the acoustics seemed to be perfect and actually sounded more like a studio recording. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was watching when he listed this video as 1star but he sure couldn't have been watching this video! This video was superb thru each and every song that Mick and his band performed!! The setting for this concert in Taormina, Sicily was also excellent and being in the Greek amphitheater even made it that much more special. I have been to Taormina before and it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
