Simply Red Live at Royal Albert Hall is a MUST HAVE. The band's possibly last DVD made since lead singer Mick Hucknall is going solo in 2010. There will be a Greatest Hits tour in 2009, but this was the last collective performance of the recent Simply Red Band which was performed in May 2007, 6 sold out performances. You'll have tears in your eyes when you realize this IS Simply Red, and you MUST have this DVD. Order this, and all other DVD's produced, as memories you'll always cherish.

If you are a fan of this band, you will be ecstatic, if you were not a fan, you will be after viewing this concert. Worth watching over and over again. The band is excellent, the vocals are right on, a truly enjoyable experience.

OMG OMG OMG Actually that about sums up what I think of this DVD. This man and his band are, well there aren't enough adjectives to describe how wonderfully amazing there truly are. From the first album, Talking Book, to this latest, Stay, I didn't think it could get any better. I love watching this DVD. It's one thing to listen to the CD but it's an unbelievable experience watching Mick sing. It seems so effortless and he truly enjoys what he does, it's so obvious. That voice, that sound that comes out of him is a Godsend. I can't even imagine what it must feel like to be able to sing like that, to entertain like that. He has to be the luckiest man alive. If you like Simply Red you'll love this DVD. Get it now while you still can before Simply Red are no more. I'm actually looking forward to what he does on his own. I'm sure he will continue to mesmerize us for years to come. ALL HAIL MICK HUCKNALL AND SIMPLY RED!

SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
I bought this within weeks of its release and was immedialtely asking myself, why have I never seen them live??? I have all the DVD's available, and this IS the very best. From the "Soul Theme" intro that gives us a sneak-peak at the tightness of the band, to the very last notes of "If You Don't Know Me By Now", it will have you watching it more times than you would ever have thought!

If you can, get the SR STARS Collector's Edition with the DVD of them at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland 1992. Wonderful! Mick's acappella of Cole Porter's LOVE FOR SALE is "worth the price of admission", REALLY! DROWNINING IN MY OWN TEARS and GRANMA'S HANDS only seal the deal. Try to ignore the awful "costumes" of the back-up singers (Dee Johnson and ?? They don't have credits on the "liner notes").

Fortunate for me, I have tickets to see SR in Los Angeles in March 2009. It's hard to believe, but the venue, new to L.A. called Club NOKIA, is small, only seating 2,300!! Just what Mick likes, intimate, no stadium arena here!

I absolutely LOVE Simply Red- they're a great group and delightful live performers. However I must say I am disappointed at the video quality of this DVD. The 'Live in Sicilly' has a better video quality (HD), but I didn't like the camera work (annoying that director kept flashing everywhere every 3 secs), which is why I bought this one.

Audio quality is mediocre too. Live in Sicilly has better audio too.

As for the tracklist, it contains major hits like 'Stars', 'For your babies', 'Sunrise', 'Fairground', 'Money's too tight to mention', 'Something got me started', etc. Check the official Simply Red website for the full tracklisting. The one I really missed was 'You make me feel brand new', but I suppose you can't have everything...

Bottomline: as much as it's a great performance, it has great songs and camerawork was good, audio and sound quality are only mediocre.

PS: I had posted a review saying that sound quality was bad, and volume kept going up and down. My mistake- for all of you who changed to Mac recently, and use the default DVD player, it has an option called 'Dolby dynamic range compression'. DISABLE IT! It ruins everything.

I had the opportunity to see Simply Red during their recent concert at Sandalford Winery in Perth WA. The concert was absolutely sublime. This DVD is about the closest you're going to get to being there!

Simply Red in the best of the best time.
The concert is an art itself.As always Mick brings 1st class show.
I would recommend to get this DVD w/ the concert of Simply Red from Sicily from a few years back.
This should be classic of present music from Europe.

Though Mick has aged a bit, he doesn't miss a beat, his voice is just as melodious as it was in his prime. He has some of the best musicians and the music reflects this. The band seems to be enjoying what they do. I loved the female backup singer, she has presence. The lighting was sometimes blinding, but the venue was just right to give a large crowd a cozy setting. It was enjoyable to see the 40 & 50 something crowd dance and sing-a-long. A must have if you are a Simply Red fan and if you're not. Its just Simply good music.

This is obviously a perfect concert from a perfect live band as is Simply Red, but I was a little dissapointed with amazon, because the dvd is made in Argentina, and I cannot understand why amazon USA don't deliver the made in USA or UK or EU product.

It's simply the greatest live performances of the Simply Red. Love all the songs. I have seem their live in San Diego few years back. It was fantastic. They just like a good bottle of wine, even better through the years. Buy it, for your own good. You will enjoy every second of it.
