This is my favorite scone cookbook (I have several) and it is dog-eared, flour stained and remains to this day one of my most often used books. I bought the book not knowing how to make scones and found the directions easy, the ingredients readily available and every recipe has turned out delicious. From working with this book I have also learned the basics of scone cookery and have gone from a rank beginner to being able to create my own scone recipes easily. Buy it! You will not regret it.

Every recipe I have tried from this cookbook has been fantastic. There are some wonderful combinations such as orange and chocolate scones. The directions are easy, the ingredients are usually common items that are easy to find and all the recipes I have tried turned out yummy.

Although it is a small book, in size, it is not small in yumminess or easiness. I have to admit that scones have become a staple in our house, due in a large part, to this book.

I've made about 10 of the recipes out of this book, and each one came out perfectly. If you've only experienced dry-as-sawdust "scones" at trendy coffee shops, but this book and be pleasantly surprised at what scones are REALLY like. Some of the scones are beyond rich (like the Brownie Scones), but every batch I've tried so far from this book has turned out buttery, tender, and utterly irresistable. Try the Classic Cream Scones first and then go from there.

Great book at a great price. I have made the blueberry lemon, raisin bran & orange poppy seed scones. I put the delicious topping from the blueberry lemon on all of them. YUMMY!! They were all easy to make. I look forward to making more varieties. This is a must have for anyone who loves scones.

I must say I really like this book also. I had never made my own scones before (I usually buy them from Starbucks). But this book along with the scone pan made it so easy and less expensive! The only thing I wish is that the book was bigger, being so small it gets lost in the shelve with all my biiger cookbooks.

Somewhere in the past year or two I have developed a real yen for scones. We used to have a tea house and various coffee houses in my city that served them, and I would occasionally buy one when the mood hit. Then all of a sudden my city was sconeless. I couldn't get a scone to save my life. I drove to every coffee place and bakery I could find... nothing. So I decided I'd make my own. I added this book to my Amazon wish list and my husband bought it for me for Christmas. Since Christmas I have been a scone making machine. As I type the air is filled with the heavenly aroma of fresh out of the oven Apple Oatmeal Scones.

I have made several of the recipes and everyone has been easy to follow and wonderfully delicious.

A few of my favorite recipes:

Blueberry Coffee Cake Scones - it has a streusel topping
Cheese Scones - Cheddar and Parmesan cheese with a dash of red pepper. I served it with chili one night.
Apple Oatmeal Scones - with apples, dates, oatmeal and molasses it's a hearty scone and a great on the go breakfast.
Citrus Curd - I love lemon curd and this recipe takes it to another level with a bit of orange juice and peel.

The recipes call for you to place the scone batter on a buttered 8-9 circle on a cookie sheet, then cut the scones yourself,then bake, and if necessary re-cut. I also received a scone pan for Christmas and I would highly recommend it. The baking temperature and time does not change and the amount of batter is perfect for the pan.

My only gripe about this book is its size, about 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, and the binding; it's next to impossible to keep the page open face up. I like my cook books to be able to remain open for easy access. Other than that this is a fantastic little book and I plan to keep on making a scone a day.
NordicWare Scottish Scone/Cornbread Pan

I searched high and low for a book on scones, and finally found this one a few years ago. Since then, it has been used frequently. I have tried many of the recipes in it, and without exception have found them to be delicious. The book also contains recipes for spreads you can use on scones. I would highly recommend it for anyone who loves scones.

I bought this at my local tea shop upon the owner's recommendation. If you want a nuts & bolts book of great recipes, this is it. My husband loves the chocolate orange scones. My children love the brownie scones, and I love the orange-cranberry scones. All types are included, not just "sweet" scones. I haven't made a bad one yet!

If you love your English fare, this is the book for you. Sit down with a cup of tea and any of the wonderful scones you can make from this book, and feel a smile of contentment cross your face. Try the savoury scones for a potluck brunch, walnut scones for high tea, or chocolate chip scones for dessert. The beauty of this book is that it combines the traditional recipes with delectable varations to make any palette happy. What a bargain for the price

One of the things I liked about the book was that there is a recipe for "Clotted Cream" which I haven't found in any of the other recipe books I have read. There is quite a variety of recipes for spreads in addition to scones for every occasion and taste! The book is well worth having in your collection!
