Simply Deep Tarot is a unique and well done deck. The artwork speaks to me and is colorful and full of details for great readings. The book that goes with the deck is well written with different meanings than the usual tarot decks. Makes one think about their readings in a whole new way. Very lovely deck. I have noticed that if you purchase a deck by Schiffer then you will be getting a high quality deck, they come with a nice box to store the cards.

Simply Deep Tarot is the newest offering from the team that brought you "A King's Journey Tarot". Author Chanel Bayless and artist James Battersby have created a colorful deck that seems to blend the old and the new in a highly original way.
The deck comes in a well made keepsake box with a ribbon pull and magnetic closure. You have to give the publisher a lot of credit for creating such a solid box - and they also put effort into making a deck that is equally sturdy. The cards are printed on a very strong card stock and have a super glossy finish. This makes them a dream to shuffle and makes for a deck with a long life for those of us who do a lot of readings.
The deck is based on the standard Rider Waite format with 78 cards. Traditional Major and Minors are featured along with the usual suits and court cards. The back of the cards has a reversible image of ghostly figure reading tarot cards.
I love the little white book that comes with the deck. Bayless gives a lovely introduction to her concept behind the cards and explains why you need to detach from your readings. She then discusses chakras and why it is important to read from the "upper chakras" rather than the lower ones.
In the second chapter, she shows you how to work with the deck using her own reading as an example. Her method is easy and those who are new to tarot will find it useful. I've met many people who are intimidated by tarot but her suggested technique makes it simple for anyone who has an interest in learning how to work with the cards.
The interpretations are fantastic. Bayless is a good writer and her insights on the cards are interesting and useful but never stodgy. For example, in the World she writes: "BE aware of what you keep in your personal borders.Read more ›
Let's be clear: i've owned many more decks that were "prettier," but those decks tended to either lack depth psychological meanings, being overly simplistic, or they were the standard vacuous "barbie goes on the fool's journey decks." Of course there are exceptions, such as the incomparable Thoth or Marseille Tarots. During my years of collecting nearly 100 decks, I've found many that "almost worked" for me, and until now, I've always loathed "contemporary" decks, finding them all too laden with someone's lockstep ideology. NOT SO with the Simply Deep tarot. The use of color, the style of the drawings (friendly and casual without being consdescending or avoiding the meaning of the card) drew me in immediately. Chanel's chakra sealing exercise at the beginning has ---- for the first time ever ---- allowed me to read for myself without seeing what I (1 want to see) or (2 fear to see). This deck shows the truth. I can't wait to get my hands on her first deck, if (hint, hint) her new publisher puts it out.
The only reason I gave it a four - the decks is a 10+ is that I would have like more explication of the symbolism used, although I understand Chanel designed it to be an experiential deck.
Simply Deep Tarot, produced by Author Chanel Bayless and Illustrator James Battersby, is a new way of looking at the old way of the Tarot.
Although this deck can be read in the normal manner, Chanel encourages you to go deeper. The companion book guides you through preparing before a reading, and takes you through an exercise of going deeper with the cards - creating a story of your own. Suggested keywords, and meanings for upright and reversed positions are included.
This Rider Waite-style, 78-card Tarot deck comes with the companion book and one of Schiffer's specially designed boxes to keep everything together. The vibrant artwork provides a base for suggested meanings and allows for personal interpretations. With each reading something new will be discovered as elements seem to appear depending on the state of mind, therefore showcasing what needs to be seen at that moment.
This deck would be great for creative work, self-development, and intuitive readings. I recommend this deck to anyone who wishes to Go Deeper into the tarot.
