Roshaan Ganief is the creative force and owner of MokaJade Designs which creates handcrafted, custom woodwork for clients all over the world. Her work has been featured in juried craft shows and exhibitions including a recent solo show at a gallery in Vancouver. She has studied Fine Art and Design and is currently enrolled in the renowned Fine Furniture Program at Camosun College in Victoria, B.C. She is originally from Cape Town, South Africa. My boyfriend is looking to take up woodworking, and we went to the bookstore today to find something to get him started. He flipped through book after book, and all he could find were books by heavily bearded old men with similarly old-fashioned project ideas and minimal instruction. I then stumbled upon Simply Wood, and what a refreshing change! These modern and beautiful, Asian/geometric/nature inspired patterns and thorough instructions were just what he was looking for.

This author has some very fresh ideas and interesting approaches to woodworking, and scroll saw in particular. I have been very happy with the photos, instructions, and workable solutions. All instructions are clear, the photos are excellent and text understandable. You will need a scroll saw or fret saw to complete the projects presented. Whether beginner or expert, there are projects and challenges for all levels. I made the rose business card holder, a chapter/project from this book featured in ScrollSaw magazine. As the author states you can adapt the project idea with different art, which I have done twice with the business card holder. The card holder has attracted more attention (and sales) than any other item I have made to date. The interest generated from the card holder was the main prompt to purchase this book, I had to see if there are other good ideas to make and sell -- I was not disappointed. If you are looking for new ideas to gift or to sell, I am of the opinion that you will not regret a purchase of this book. I hope it is not too long before the next book by Roshaan Ganief, she holds considerable promise as an artist and author (I have never met her and have no connection to the publisher or author).

Simply Wood by Roshaan Ganief This is the best Scroll Saw Book for understanding what and how to scrol saw. She starts you with bases of the project, materials needed The cutting need, the assemble, The pictures are excellent to see just how everthing come together along with some very helpful jig's I have not been able to lay the book I am making sure I have the material for five of her project. As a additional note I am helping my Grandson in scrolling this will be very helpful. This book for any scroller new or veteran
