Hold the lather well & is soft on his face.

The first time I soaked this brush, it was a little dirty and smelled funky, but once used a couple of times, this goes away.

Every time I use the brush I notice a couple of bristles come off the brush.

Very nice brush, with minimal initial shedding of hairs, at a very good price. Wash in warm dish-washing soap and water, rinse, soak for 30 minutes to an hour in the same kind of solution, rinse, and then work up a lather of your favorite shaving soap or cream, and let it dry overnight in the brush. The brush is cleaned, "broken in", and deodorized. Just gently rinse out most of the dried soap before using. Great brush!

I recently purchased one of these badger hair brushes after researching shaving brushes. I've gotten pretty tired of buying overpriced disposable cartridge razors and thought I'd try my hand at some good old fashioned wet shaving. I've read about the importance of using a good shaving brush for wet shaving and it seems badger hair brushes are the way to go. I find that when it comes to quality, you usually get what you pay for. That being said, it didn't take me long to realize how expensive some of these brushes can cost. That was of course until I came across this little beauty. After reading some of the reviews on other similar brushes, I found they had issues with the hair (bristles) coming loose, or there not being enough bristles in the first place, or the handles not being good. Basically poor quality craftsmanship. I'm happy to say that I've not had any of those issues with this brush and I'm amazed with the high quality of this brush, especially for the price. The handle has a nice weighted feel and the bristles are soft & dense. I've only had a couple bristles come out but that is to by expected. I highly recommend this brush to anyone looking for a good quality genuine badger hair brush at an economical price.

Best regards,

This brush is awesome, i have used really expensive brushes and i have used more affordable brushes, this one is one of the best i've used. Great price badger hair is perfect especially after a few uses. Lathers and spreads cream perfect. I will be purchasing another one soon. Used with Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood shave cream.

Mostly, a good brush also exfoliates (less ingrown hairs, and so bumps) your face, so you do not have to buy a face-scrub.

This brush is moderate sized, and not huge. At least, that gives greater control, for normal sized faces. Being badger, it retains enough heat/water, and your lather, for repeated passes. It's is not floppy, and so it's great for hard soaps, or creams/"croaps".

While it is not as soft bristle tipped, as a Silver-tip badger brush, this still gives good exfoliation; without going to far (not excessively prickly). But you be the judge, of how it feels. It's a quick brush. It's just a bit small.

P.S. Everyone should know animal brush will smell when wet, and you wash it out, and then use a good scent shave soap, and let it sit overnight, to condition it. Also, you will lose some hairs; but it should not be much of the brush. Never boil, or use water you wouldn't leave your hand in, or that would loosen the glue, and require re-gluing (2-part epoxy) back into the handle.

I bought this for a travel brush. This is the worst brush I have ever bought. The Escali brush is 100 times better for a cheap brush. It is still shedding bad (at least 50 bristles) after weeks of use. Soaked in dawn and borax at least 4 times and stills smells bad. Did I just get a bad one??? This is the first bad review I have made on Amazon but I just felt like I needed to.

After learning to shave with a safety razor 50 years ago, I was tired of paying a small fortune for cartridge refills and thought I'd return to where I started my shaving adventures. I didn't use a brush as a kid and didn't know anything about them but after reading all the reviews I could find, I decided to purchase this one. This brush just does a great job. Several reviews mentioned that brand new badger brushes had a foul odor to them that took a while to get rid of. I braced myself as I opened the package, I was prepared for the worst road kill stench known to mankind but this brush had a very slight odor to it that was not particularly objectionable. I took the advice of one of the other reviewers and washed it out in dish washing detergent and then let it soak in a cup with a solution of dish washing detergent and water for about 90 minutes. I never noticed much of an odor during any phase of this process but did notice that the water became somewhat discolored. The brush lost 3 bristles during this process and after using it for a couple of weeks it hasn't lost any more. I have no idea what a $200 silver tip badger brush could do for me but as long this $12.00 beauty continues to perform, I'll have no need to find out.

Very nice brush. Seems to work nicely. Just realize that this brush was from a small animal and has a very pungent smell to it. I had read where another reviewer had the same reaction as I had. All in all it is what it is...a good brush and seems to be well made. If you are interested in a pure badger brush, I don't think you will be disappointed at all. The odor will hopefully go away over time. If not I will return to a boar brush in the future, as they seem to work very well also.
