Shreds into tiny micro cut squares and the bin holds a good bit of shredded material as well.

It has a large capacity bin, so you do no have to empty it very often.

This shredder handles so much more than just a few sheets of paper. You can stack up to 10 sheets at a time and it will even handle the staples, so no need to pull them out first. There are individual shredding slots for paper, CD/DVDs and credit cards. Everything is cut extremely fine and the end result looks more like confetti than the typical lines of shredded paper you get with most machines. There are wheels located on the base than can be locked so they won't roll when you don't want them to.

The black and matte metal design has a modern feel and works well with any rooms color or wood scheme. The bin has a clear section in the center of the drawer so you can monitor how full it is. After turning the power switch on, everything else runs on it's own. No need to press or hold any shredding buttons like with some other brands. Just feed in what you want shredded and the machine senses it. It then comes out of sleep mode and begins pulling the item inside for shredding.

The waste bin can hold quite a bit. After shredding 20+ pieces of paper and various CDs, there was just a thin layer of paper at the bottom of the canister. This size would be perfect for a home office or small business. This unit shreds paper so finely and the information is shredded so well that my husband is taking this unit to use in his office at work for legal papers that need shredded (he works in law enforcement). They require their documents be shredded to a specific level, and this more than meets it.

The Simply Shred PSC310D is a great looking shredder you won't have to hide somewhere because it's an eyesore. It's sharp appearance and small footprint will make deciding on a spot in your office for it a pleasure instead of a chore.

I am very impressed with SimplyShred PSC310D shredder:
(1) The shredder easily handled 10 sheets of paper at once
(2) When I shredded a credit card and wanted to take a picture of the shreds to include in this review, I could not find them among the paper shreds. I had to empty the bin and do it again so I could be sure what they looked like. They were totally minced!
(3) The shredder did a nice job on CDs.
(4) This shredder can handled staples

This shredder is rated as Level 4 security. I also have a shredder which is rated as Level 3 security. I am attaching a photo which shows the output of these two shredders side by side so you can see how these different levels of security compare.
The collage contains 4 photos. The photo labelled L3-1 shows shredded CD, shredded paper, and shredded credit card from L3 level security shredder. Photos labelled L4-1, L4-2, L4-3 show shredded CD, shredded paper, and shredded credit card from L4 level security shredder. You can see that the paper and credit card are shredded into much smaller pieces, CD shreds looks about the same. This photo collage can be located by following 'customer photos' link under the main photo.

I am attaching a video that demonstrates this shredder working on 10 sheets of paper, a credit card, and a CD. I am also attaching a collage of 6 photos (that can be found by following 'customer photos' link under the main photo) that I will be referencing in this review.

1. This shredder is a pretty substantial unit. Photo #1 shows it next to my Fellows DM-6C shredder and you can see that SimplyShred is significantly taller.
SimpleShred is 26" high x 10.25" front to back x 14.5 inches wide

The shredding mechanism of this shredder is built into the frame of the unit.

I like this shredder. When my last cross cut shredder died I knew what I wanted next --- a micro-cut shredder. I stumbled on this unit and with some hesitation ordered it. So far I am pleased, but this is a critical review so I will point out some shortcomings.

The shredder is quiet, it is reasonably fast and the shred particles are small. Due to the small shred particles, the basket does not need to be emptied as much as similar crosscut shredders since the small shreds leave little room for air and space. In my old unit the shredder would indicate a full basket, I would pull out the basket and press down on the shreds and half a basket would be available to me (the first time I did this). This process would continue several times before I actually emptied the basket. On this shredder, the particles are packed so tight that you can make space by pressing down on the shreds, but the process yields less room and is much less effective. Since it takes longer to fill the basket up, I end up changing the basket when the shredder tells me it is full.

For me, the biggest con of this unit is the design of the build-in bin. If you use a plastic trash bag to collects the shreds (like I do), the bag will be packed tight and when you do need to remove it there are locations on the inside of the bin the bag can snag on and tear. You can avoid problems by being careful when removing the trash bag full of shreds, but it would be nice not to have to be careful. For me, this is the single biggest con, *but* every shredder with a build in internal bin I have seen has this problem. So if you hesitate due to this con, other similar shredders I have seen have the same problem.
