This review is from: SimplySleeper SS-47T Premium Twin Air bed (airbed / air mattress) with Built-in Electric Pump (Puncture & Stretch Resistant!). Best material in the market! (Kitchen)
I had this shipped to me in Afghanistan. It is much better than the cheap mattresses the government provided us. It has not lost any air pressure after over a month's worth of continuous use. The top surface is lumpy so I recommend a foam topper also. I'm using a three inch topper and that is overkill; one inch would probably do OK.

First off, this mattress is very solid built and hasn't leaked at all since I aired it up 3 days ago. Overall the build quality is really great and I see this holding up much better than past air mattress's. My only reason for the 4 star rating is that mine was NOT exactly like the one shown in all the pictures (search even their website and its the same as the amazon pics).
The mattress I received looks like the one in the pictures here except that the raised horizontal comfort coils are instead egg shaped raised coils. Personally I don't like this design as much, the raised eggs are annoying compared to the horizontal style. So if you don't mind that I would recommend this mattress. UPDATE: They have now updated the image to reflect the new mattress style. I would also like to update that after a few more nights of breaking the mattress in, I am much more satisfied with the comfort. Finding the right amount of air and letting it "soften" up just a bit from sleeping on it has helped a lot. This is definitely the best air mattress I have ever had (and boy have I had a few in the past 5-6 years). I have updated my rating from 4 to 5 stars and will recommend this air mattress above all others, especially for those who use them as a long term sleeping solution like I do.

I originally purchased the SimplySleeper queen version for our condo in Florida. It is amazinly rugged and durable and the adjustable inflation is just icing on the cake. We have had 2 couples visit us and they both raved about the comfort. Adding a padded mattress cover makes this a great guest bed. We have been a long time camping family and I have seen air mattresses come and go but this is by far of the best quality and heavy duty material. I was so impressed that I just purchased 2 more twins.

Like one of the other buyers I am located in Afghanistan. To say things are austere would be an understatement of the millennium. Further what accommodations we do have are not fit for prison inmates. The bed I was sleeping on was killing my back and when you have back pain you aren't sleeping well and if you are not sleeping well you are not mission focused. I wholeheartedly believe that we could bring peace on earth a lot faster if our war fighters and their support teams had something this comfortable to sleep on. In 2 nights time my back is feel much improved and I fully expect to be mission ready by Christmas day at the latest.
I want to thank the folks that took the time to leave their comments on this product, you guys saved me from making a big mistake as I almost bought a cheaper POS. To the manufacture, great product, great job. To our war figthers, God Bless you all and I pray for safe and speedy return home several times a day.

I like this mattress because: - The air pump is built into the bed and even includes a place to store the cord - It inflates quickly and automatically (see the video) - It deflates quickly and automatically and completely. (Imagine the video running in reverse). The automatic deflation is perhaps nicer than the inflation to anyone like me who has struggled to get the air out of a mattress so it can be folded for storage. - It's reasonably comfortable. In air mattress terms, that's *very* comfortable. It doesn't wiggle around, the ridges allow you get some decent back support, and the material makes it seem like you are lying on something that isn't plastic. What may make it less than perfect for some: - There is no way to manually inflate the mattress. That can be a problem if you want to take this camping or to some place where there is no AC. - There are other beds available, for a bit more, that look more... bed-like. Bottom line: If you don't plan on taking this mattress camping and are comfortable being comfortable without a more bed-like appearance then this is a great choice. Full disclosure: SimplySleeper provided a sample bed for me to review and if I ever needed to buy one, this would be it.

I had already purchased this bed previously and used it as a guest bed for my sister's family when they visited our house. I bought another one as a gift for my sister, because she has a 3 yr old son that liked to jump on our air bed. The bed is very sturdy and durable. Also, my sister's son rarely could sleep in his own and preferred his parent's bed, but he liked sleeping on our air bed for some reason. I guess he really like the fact that a bed can inflate and deflate. I think my sister would be thrilled to be receiving this air bed. I would recommend this air bed to any mom.

I have slept on an Aero air mattress every night for the last several years. It died after I accidentally stuck a needle into it and couldn't repair it......ugh!!!! Anyway, I couldn't find the same kind of mattress again. I bought a Coleman in the store but didn't like it for every night sleeping. I'll save it for when I camp. I found this mattress and decided to give it a try. It is not as thick as my old Aero mattress but is ok. I like the built in pump. My Aero had something similar and I got spoiled to having an built in pump. After experimenting for several nights, I decided that it really needs a foam topper or it is too uncomfortable. Since foam makes me hot, I put 2 thick terry towels across the mattress on top of the foam underneath where my body would be laying, added a mattress pad and then the sheet. This works well for me as I am not laying so close to the foam. I have had it for a few weeks now and after the experiments, find it very comfortable. It holds air extremely well. I haven't had to adjust the air other than at the first when I was trying to find my preference. It airs up very quickly. Quietly too. I expect that I will be using this one for a long while. At least I see no reason that I wouldn't; it seems to be well made. I will amend this review later if it develops a problem.

I have tried quite a few brands of twin-size airbeds over the past few years, hoping to find one comfortable enough for guests and for my traveling. A twin-size airbed clearly cannot be as comfortable as a queen-size airbed (I've also tried many models of those over the years). Simply stated, the Simply Sleeper twin-size airbed takes the prize for comfort (for twin-size airbeds). It's just plain excellent in all respects.Tips for any airbed: -- It is unlikely to be most comfortable when fully inflated -- Test your comfort when it is fully inflated, then let out some air, test again, and so on until it is clearly too soft for you. Then you will have a good idea of your preferred softness level. Tips when also using a memory foam mattress topper: -- You probably will want the airbed inflated more fully if you use a memory foam mattress topper -- This is because the mattress topper provides most of the softness you need to sleep, and in general more firm support is better for you, as long as it is comfortable enough for your sleeping. If you want inexpensive but excellent memory foam toppers for a (twin) airbed, you can start by searching amazon for: sleep 2-inch memory foam topper twin A memory foam mattress topper should be at least 2.5 pounds per cubic foot density, and up to Tempurpedic's 5.0 pounds density (foam is denser and has more support but also is slower to settle in or recover) -- the best density is a matter of personal preference. You may have to google the mattress topper model to discover the foam density, since the amazon entry often doesn't include it. This all important number (pounds per cubic foot density), as well as the thickness you specify for the memory foam mattress topper -- 2 inches is typically best for an airbed -- will define your sleep experience, not the brand.

I have purchased many airbeds as I travel around the world for my work and the military all seem to be very thin and not well made. This Airbed will not dissappoint the material is very thick and very comfortable to sleep on.

***UPDATE Dec. 1st, 2011***This bed is still going strong for me. No degradation or leaks! Still love this air-bed big time! I'm 5' 7" 122 pounds but I am a tosser-turner and I can put a real hurtin' on an air-bed with my constant position switching throughout the night and this bed is still almost like brand new. Still happy with my bed! YAY! :) ------------ This air-bed is not as thick as typical air-beds but still quite comfortable. I bought this bed after my 2+ year old Aerobed petered out and couldn't be fixed any longer. I have back/neck/shoulder issues which are only relieved by sleeping on a twin air-bed that I can custom adjust to my comfort level. My husband and I own an expensive 'brand-name' queen air-bed but I've just never been able to get comfortable enough on it to be able to get a decent night's sleep, so my solution was to sleep on my own air-bed next to the queen bed. I really like the feature of having a place for the cord to be tucked away into the side-indention of the air-bed and it inflates and deflates super-fast. Regular twin sheets fit this mattress perfectly. This bed and its materials feel quality made and I will be using it every night, so, it will be interesting to see how the longevity plays out after a couple of years of constant use. Also, don't be surprised when you receive your bed and the box that the bed is folded in has been already opened as this is part of this company's quality-control to insure your bed inflates and holds air for 24 hours and deflates before they ship it to you. Sweeet Dreams! Zzzz |
