Sociologist Tim Delaney considers the Simpsons sitcom and the ways it affects and reflects American culture. For over 15 years The Simpsons have covered American culture, from customs and oddities to politics and family dynamics. This draws important links between sociology and Simpsons plots and approaches, making it a perfect choice for any college-level library strong in sociology and American culture.

Nothing special - needed it for class. Be detailed and specific. What would you have wanted to know before you purchased the product? Not too short and not too long. Aim for between 75 and 300 words.

Bought this book for a class and it was purchased used. I'm not much of a fan of the Simpsons but this book does point out a lot of interesting information in connection to society from the show. It's very interesting, something I think a fan of the show would appreciate. The book was purchased used but was in Brand New Condition. Book came on time and in better condition than expected so I'd say use this seller.

Another Useless Allegory,

I had the pleasure of attending the class of the professor who wrote this piece of work (Tim Delaney). Where I have been very impressed with Delaney's other works on sociological theory and the like, I was very disappointed by both the book and the class. This book is yet another example of a TV-allegory for people who are too lazy to learn real sociology (just go to your local book store to find gems such as "The Sociology of World of Warcraft"). The book is essentially an introduction to sociology; so the experienced sociologist will be bored by this book. If you are already a die-hard Simpsons fan as well as a sociology student, there is nothing new this book can teach you. But if you're looking for an non-stimulating introduction to the world of sociology, go right ahead, just don't expect any major revelations. I do, however, recommend most of Delaney's other work (save of course his Seinology book, which, you guessed it, is the sociology of Seinfeld).
