Dull Trivia Question-A-Day!, January 12, 2011
This review is from: The Simpsons 2011 Laugh-A-Day Daily Desk Calendar (Calendar)
This is an incredibly disappointing calendar! It is billed as being a Laugh-A-Day calendar, which would normally lead someone to believe that there would be funny content in it but instead, it's just a different detailed trivia question each day. Here's an example from groundhog day:
In "Midnight Rx" (FABF16), who does not accompany Grampa and Homer to Canada to smuggle prescription drugs into Springfield?
a. Moe
b. Apu
c. Ned
I'm sure that there are some people who will enjoy a new Simpsons trivia question every day but I have a hard time believing that anyone could actually find this type of content would ever generate any laughs, let alone one a day! This calendar was very disappointing to me and my wife (who I got it for as a gift). It's 90% trivia questions just like the one above and then once every few weeks, there is a "Classic Moments" screen capture from an episode. I would have been much happier with the calendar if it was just classic moments but the trivia is just dumb, dull facts.
By the way, it was "a. Moe" who does not accompany Grampa and Homer, in case you were dying in anticipation of the answer.

Disappointing, June 18, 2011
This review is from: The Simpsons 2011 Laugh-A-Day Daily Desk Calendar (Calendar)
I am a simpson fan, but I dont like this item. This is a lot of things, but not a calendar. By the way, it does not make me laugh. It is extremely boring.

New... and improved!, January 21, 2011
This review is from: The Simpsons 2011 Laugh-A-Day Daily Desk Calendar (Calendar)
I must retract my criticism from previous years, when written versions of the "couch gags" fell flat. No description can measure up to the perfect timing and visual impact of a well-rendered sight gag. But in 2011 those pages have been replaced by famous movie references and classic moments over 20 years. It works much better, making each day more reliably satisfying for the true Simpsons nut.
