Review

The introduction of colour not only immensely increases the quality of the illustrations but effectively transforms this very popular text into an atlas of forensic pathology as well as a comprehensive reference for forensic medicine in general. -- Journal of the Canadian Society of Forensic Medici An example of clarity and contains as much information as one could possibly hope to find in a book of just over 200 pages. Simpson's Forensic Medicine has been rejuvenated and this face-lift will carry it through into the new century -- St. George's Hospital Gazette (review of previous As one reads through this classic, one finds that the new print layout greatly enhances one's ability to use the book. This is an excellent reworking of a classic text that remains a standard introductory reference guide to the world of forensic medicine...hopefully it will find a new audience on recommended reading lists throughout the world...I thus strongly recommend this book -- The Bulletin of The Royal College of Pathologists 20040701 The twelfth edition admirably meets the challenge of acheiving the high standards set by its earlier counterparts...medical students and junior doctors in all specialities would do well to persue the pages of this book, which will also be of value to the police, and to lawyers seeking an introductory understanding to the principles of forensic medicine. -- ACP News 20040701

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and Concise, May 12, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Simpson's Forensic Medicine (Paperback)
This book is a fantastic introduction to forensic medicine. It covers every aspect of forensic medicine but it doesn't get bogged down with details that most students don't need or want to know. I, for instance, would like to have a more extensive chapter about drugs - but that is the function of comprehensive textbooks, which Simpson's doesn't claim to be.

The text is very readable and the book is beautifully organized. There are many pictures which really helps visual learners like myself remember information. If you want a simple and quick to read book, this is the one. If you are looking for an extensive textbook look for another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Forensic Text, December 4, 2005
This review is from: Simpson's Forensic Medicine (Paperback)
This is the recommended text at my medical school and for once, I agree with them. Its small and compact with clear explanations. Granted, my high opinion is probably due to the book's organised approach and my anal retentive cravings for neatness. Like minded med students may appreciate the small size, this book won't add further stress to your back.
