4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and challenging!

2.0 out of 5 stars In the words of Lisa Simpson... meh...
This game isn't that great. It violates my one big pet peeve - repetition of the same challenge over and over if you don't get it right the first time. The best part about this game is the dialogue, but even that gets repetitive when you've repeated a level about 25 times. Also, it feels like the characters don't respond well to the controller, which means you are...

I am an adult gamer and decided to get this game based on the reviews here.

Sure enough, it is fun and challenging. You never lose lives. I had alot of fun playing it. Some parts were hard but I got over it after some practicing. You have to collect all the coins, papers and cliches. I completed the game but got only 97% because I wasn't able to get all the items I needed. There were times I wanted to go back after seeing that I missed a coin over there, but once you across a certain point, you cannot go back. Unless you want to start over again on that certain level.

It is rated T due to mild language. It is almost easy enough for kids but due to the language they had to rate it a 'T'.

The game does save where you left off. Graphics are great & colorful, just like the TV cartoon.

Recommended for those who want a silly, fun and kind of short game.

5.0 out of 5 stars The... Simpsons...Game!, March 1, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
The simpsons is something that we all know and love. They have been in and around our lives for about 20 years now, and I beleive that no other animated series will ever come to portray the greatness that the simpsons has. With that being said, the simpsons game is just simply a great game! The simpsons has had many games in the past, to entertain it's fanbase. Only one game has been worthy to hold the titile of the simpsons game, and that is this one! The DS version of this game portrays not only the TV show itself, but the abilities of the characters as well. When you have Homer turning into a big blob, Bart turning into Bartman, Lisa using her mind powers, Marge using her persuasive tone and her Megaphone, and Maggie using her tinyness to crawl through small space, how could you go wrong?

The gameplay of the game is pretty fun to start out, but then it gets a bit repetitive. The gameplay is basically the same on each level. You use the special abilities of that character to get through a level filled with traps and bad guys. Sounds pretty vague huh? Well it is, to a certain extent. But what the developers did is made every level unique in its own way, to keep the play interested.

Overall the Simpsons game on DS is the best out of all of them. I have played the PS3, 360 AND Wii Versions, and I really think they do not compare to the DS version. The DS version just combines beutiful 2D graphics with a 3D engine, to make for a smooth looking game.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons DS Review, January 18, 2008
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
This is a very good game. It's lots of fun to play as all the different Simpsons characters. Lots of fun to play, a very good platformer. I would recommend this game to anyone who likes to play the Super Mario-type games and I would highly recommend to Simpsons fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Really Great Game!, December 1, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
This is a really good game. Its funny, and interesting. The thing is this game is way to easy and has no challenge at all. So if you know your a experienced gamer then dont buy it if you like challenging games. But otherwise this game is great and highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars if you love the simpsons...., December 7, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
I'm going to be very blunt.
You cannot die in this game. There are unlimited lives. Some of the levels get pretty difficult and frustrating. (So unlimited lives is a good thing. But leaves no REAL challenge.)
The animations are good and the dialogue is funny and its pretty easy to just pick the game up and start playing. There are quite a few unlockables. And a really cool feature of the game is the ability to visit the theater and replay any cutscenes/animations you have unlocked in the game.
Another cool feature is PET HOMER which is moderately funny. (it's not a complete mini game, its more for a quick laugh.)
I'd recommend this for fans of the simpsons, as most of the things that make this game great are things that not the average person would appreciate this game for.

The best part about this game is the dialogue, but even that gets repetitive when you've repeated a level about 25 times. Also, it feels like the characters don't respond well to the controller, which means you are pressing those tiny DS buttons really hard and your hands get bad cramps. Last, in many cases there is absolutely no direction as to how you are supposed to complete the challenge, so you really end up doing it a ridiculous number of times (Lisa and the dolphins almost made me chuck the thing out the window!). If you want a good Simpsons game, I enjoyed the Xbox game "Hit and Run".

5.0 out of 5 stars The Simpsons has it's game groove back, March 9, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
With the exception of the beloved Simpsons arcade game and Hit and Run, all the Simpsons games out there are pretty much bad. This DS game, however, captures everything we love about the TV show and puts it into one great cartridge!

While the game contains great platforming and cool settings in each level, it also captures the traditional Simpsons comedy while also embarking an entirely new storyline.

Despite the fact that the cutscenes are in 3D, while they are 2D in the console versions, they feel very true to the show, and they will keep you laughing. The sound quality is fantastic, too. The story is about the dysfunctional family finding out that they are REALLY IN a video game! Later, however, the aliens try to take over Springfield. In order to fight back, the Simpsons must go into the game engine, and then get the ability to talk to, GASP, God!

Want to see what a cutscene is like? Well, here's a sneak peak at what they say when they enter the game engine:
Homer: I'm not a video game character. I'm a real life man with dreams and feelings. (Looks down, noticing he's floating over a gap) AAAaahh! (respawns) Okay, I'm a video game guy....

You can double jump and beat up enemies in your way. There are also some other moves you can do, like how Homer can turn into a giant ball, and Lisa can pick up things indirectly. Bart wears a Batman-style outfit and can fly, along with latching on certain points with the grappling hook.

After getting through Simpsons-themed levels, you'll find DOZENS of hilarious video game parodies. One level, in fact, pokes fun at the Legend of Zelda series. Another is a spoof of Pokemon! In fact again, it even has turn-based battles against the made-up Pokemon-like creatures that are owned by certain kids from Springfield Elementary. Heck, even an old MARIO pops in a cutscene!

You can also unlock Frogger and Space Invaders parodies after beating the TreeHouse of Horror level. They are just as addicting as the original arcade games.

The 2 to 4 player Vs mode is fun, too. There are 3 different types of gameplay here: Get the Krusty Head (Bart), Golden Donut (Homer, but this plays identical to Krusty Head), and just plain battling.

One thing that might seem dull is how there are infinite lives. If you die, you respawn at the start or a checkpoint if you got one, but there's no life counter. I guess Matt G. decided to give us a chance at watching the cutscenes?

Overall, this is one heck of a Simpsons game. It's an all new and funny chapter in the Simpsons series. You shouldn't pass this up.

3.0 out of 5 stars simpsons the hysteria, August 8, 2009
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
When I first heard about this game the thing I thought about was the movie so I was really hyped to get the simpsons game for my ds so I finally bought it so now I am 99% complete and I think that yes it is fun but on the on other hand the plot line is thin and ludicrous I played it a lot but it just didn't have that simpsons style I mean come on meet with god to save your world that was the best plot they could come up with as for the gameplay it looks as if the simpsons are walking stick figures that really don't do anything unless you press a button witch is a little strange but I really tried to love it just wasn't what I was looking for but I really like the short movies and some of the game backgrounds anyways here are the pros and cons

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun game for kids, January 26, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Simpsons Game (Video Game)
This was a Christmas present for my daughter and she loves it. It's a little easy for avid gamers, even for people who tinker around. I haven't played a video game in years and I breezed through it quickly. For kids, however, there are parts that will baffle and frustrate them for a while, and do so without causing them to lose interest in the game. The fact that you can keep dying without reaching a game over is a nice touch for the kiddies too. I would definitely recommend this for young children.
Only major drawback - when you begin on each new level there are long, animated introductions you cannot skip. While it's neat that you can hear the Simpsons discussing the game amongst themselves, it slows down your progress.
