so, i go through phases with the Sims. the advent of Sims 2 pulled me in yet again, and i finally splurged for University. have to say, it was worth it.
you can pull teenage sims from your main game and send them to college, or you can develop your own sims in the university mode. you can build your own university, you have an "influence" meter that encourages you to develop your sim's social skills in order to exert more influence over others, and (while never enough) the new objects/building add-ons are fun. hardware-wise, i'm running on a iMac G5, and the game (while slow-ish to load) runs perfectly. as usual, though, when in a community lot the game tends to be a bit sluggish.

I was skeptical about buying Sims 2-University at first, because of its price. I read a couple of reviews about the game, and they all liked it. I thought, "Hey, why not?" So I started playing it at my friends house, and I got hooked! I just couldn't stop playing! College life is so fun on the Sims 2- University. It adds an extra 24 days to your sim's life span (Young Adult), giving you a chance to build up skill points and relationships with other sims. Also, if your sim graduates, you unlock 2 more wants, and 4 new diploma-only jobs! They pay MUCH better at first than regular jobs. All in all, it was great! I'm saving up to buy it, and can't wait until I have enough to buy it!

This game is amazing, and it works perfectly on my MacBook. Not only are the graphics up to par, but the loading time... wait, what am I talking about? There is barely any loading time! I went to go get some cereal, and when I got back, it was already sitting there, just waiting to be played!
Also, I'm one of those players who go and download re-colors and other objects that fans make for the game, and I've added a lot so far, but the game still works perfecty. Basically, this is what consumes most of my 24 hours! :D

This is an excellent game, and each expansion pack offers more and more possibility. In all honesty, after getting The Sims 2 Open For Business, I don't spend a lot of time in the University town, but it's well worth the additional options opened up.
I particularly enjoy the added want and want lock options that open up as your sim progresses through the semesters. This, just like real college, is why I suggest having getting/having this expansion pack, even if you don't spend a lot of time playing the university itself. The benefits will last a lifetime! Enjoy!

With the University expansion pack, our old friend, Sims 2, goes to an all new, strange place: college.
There's a lot of new stuff added to the game with this pack. Heck, it's practically a game all on its own! You get a new life-stage for your Sims (young-adult), new aspirations (including ones like "First Woo-Hoo!"), eleven majors your Sim can pick from, fraternities, dorms, campus hang-out spots, places where you can work part time, all new gizmos and doo-dads, etc, etc! Best of all, when you graduate and your Sim enters the working world, they will almost certainly be hired at the fourth or fifth level of their career! Plus you'll already have a great many skills (especially if you raised your Sim from an infant), and friends, so once you get out into the "real" world, you should have no problem advancing. There's no down side at all to this game (well, except for the fact that I've never managed to get my Sim into a frat or sorority. Probably because, like me, they're pretty anti-social. I am a gamer, after all). There's all the usual Sims elements we know and love plus all the extras! A total win for "Sims 2" players everywhere!

It's a pretty fun game, thank God, Mac is growing in the sense of good games. It runs perfectly, and actually faster than the pc I had... Only problems is that is a pretty repetitive expansion pack, but, to be honest when you graduate, everything starts to be fun and less repetitive (especially with the coming nightlife expansion) and there's always the option of donwloading hacks for it. I highly recommend it to every "Sims 2" and Mac fan, as me.

In my attempt for a short and sweet review of "Sims University" it is a very fun expansion pack to play. What attracts me is the extra life your sims get by being 'young adults' for awhile before transitioning into adulthood. I enjoy the dorm life, the dorms, and tooling around campus. There is a lot of College Life to experience from pledging frats and sororities, to meeting friends, falling love, pulling pranks and having more time to gain skills. With this pack you get a nice amount of clothes, most are very casual--jeans, t-shirts, but some are more dressy but more on the, dare I say, 'hoochie' side for your female sims. It's a decent amount that adds to the game. New actions I like are the 'hang out' action where your sims will sit cross legged and chat which gives them skill points. I also like forming 'hang out groups'
While you can't expand the dorms themselves you can decorate them as you please and this helps in making the rooms/dorms more of your sims style and making it feel more like college life where you would put your personality into your room. But you get an entire lot to built your own college and do as you please, so if you so desire, help yourself. There are two colleges in the game---'Le Academie" and 'Sim State' forgive me spelling the first one wrong, but these are what you pick from to send your sims to college, from there you pick who's going to be in the household, household name, pick their dorm room and the dorm building. It is pretty straight forward and very fun. HOWEVER, it can get tedious: Your sims must (eventually) choose a major and then work toward gaining skills for that major. Majors like Math, philosophy, literature, art, etc exist. There are 4 semesters and at the end of you you see how you did grade and scholorship wise. The higher the grade the more money you get. You spend most of your time doing assignments and term papers, but once you fill your 'bar' of that you can either just work on gaining skills or hanging out and gaining friendships and romantic interests, you choose. The thing is is that that does take some balancing (as in real life) skipping class is NOT AN OPTION. It's better to just don't do an assignment for a while if you want to have fun, skipping class will get you kicked out. (and if you want to drop out you will go back to your lot as an adult, no biggie) I would suggest you don't have more than 3 sims to control at a time. It gets very annoying, boring and tedious having 5 or 6 sims to keep up with. If you have siblings it might work to send them off together. You can also have your family visit anytime, but so far I'm not sure if you can go home and visit family--haven't done that yet. I would also suggest to make too many sims go off to college until you have played through a few to graduation. Right now I have sims sitting in college because I sick of them (sorry!) and don't feel like playing all the way through. I have ONE COUPLE that graduated out of handful in college. Overall, this is a very engaging and fun game and I think worth the buy. All expansion packs add something. If you have no interest in offspring or having kids in your game then of course this is of no use to you. I enjoy this, but have to be in the mood to play, and when I am I enjoy it very much.
