4.0 out of 5 stars Forget All the Expansions, This is the Best Sims Release
So you're not familiar with the Sims, eh? Let me summarize it for you quickly: An oddly addictive game in which gameplay centers on a normal 24/7 daily house life. You'll never find a game quite like it and it probably has the biggest mix of gamers you'll ever see, including people that normally don't touch PC games. 2.0 out of 5 stars Fun to play
This is a fun game, only if there is nothing else to do. I thought it would be more fun than what it actually quoted. As far as putting YOUR face on a character, don't expect it to be a mirror image.

4.0 out of 5 stars Forget All the Expansions, This is the Best Sims Release, January 8, 2004
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
So you're not familiar with the Sims, eh? Let me summarize it for you quickly: An oddly addictive game in which gameplay centers on a normal 24/7 daily house life. You'll never find a game quite like it and it probably has the biggest mix of gamers you'll ever see, including people that normally don't touch PC games. Everyone from wild teenagers to shy grandmothers play this game. Because of its record sales, it also happens to claim the largest collection of pseudo-sequel expansions known to man. For those that purchasd the original Sims a few years ago and thought it would be their final purchase, EA insisted otherwise as at least five to seven expansions have been sold since that add new content and game mechanics. Now that the Sims 2 is quickly approaching, EA is scrambling to find new ways to package the original game and this is the best combo pack to date. The Double Deluxe version combines the original Sims, Living Large expansion and House Party expansion as well as a tiny bit of custom content not available on any expansion. It also includes the Sims Creator which allows you to customize your own custom sims in whatever sex, age, appearance and clothing you'd like. I admit, I haven't played all of the expansions but I didn't enjoy Hot Date or Vacation as they went a direction I didn't care for. Both of those expansions have new towns in which you can explore if you're into role-playing your sims but I prefer the house building and job advancement, which makes the Double Deluxe edition perfect for the casual Sims fan like me. If you're the patient type and know this game and all its expansions are for you, I'd wait a few months as all gazillion expansions in the Sims will soon be available in the same combo pack because of the game's age and the upcoming sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Computer Game Ever!, November 28, 2003
By
Ashley G. (Philly, PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
The Double Deluxe edition of The Sims comes with 2 expansion packs and other bonus stuff. I got this for a birthday gift. I am completely addicted to this game. There are so many options for building your house and for choosing your Sims characters. You have tons of neighborhoods to use as the canvas of your own little world! The combinations are endless and the game never gets boring!
I've played other Simulation and Tycoon games, but none of them compare to The Sims. This Double Deluxe set is all you need to become a major Sims player. If you were to buy The Sims, House Party, and Livin' Large all separate, it would be much more expensive than buying this one simple compelete set.
However, not everything is great. It takes about an hour or more to install (depending on your computer). Also, it takes a pretty long time to load each time you want to play, but it's worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Deal!, February 17, 2004
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
I originally bought the Sims as the original version. But, after my dog chewed it past playable points, I am currently investing in Double Deluxe. Being a former Sims player, I know the tricks of the game's trade and what's what. This game is a big what!

It is an EXCELLENT deal, as it includes two of the most beloved expansion packs of the game's time. Installs like a dream compared to the long, boring hassles of buying them separate. It also leaves you with six expansion packs to buy rather than a whopping eight (original) or seven (Deluxe) At first I had my doubts, but this game was a breeze for one of my classmates to install, and you can get playing very soon. The Sims Creator is a must-have for skin designer as well. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth The Price!, August 13, 2004
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
Just like the title states, this is well worth the price!
This includes the original The Sims, The Sims House Party EP, the Sims Livin' Large EP, some bonus objects, walls, and floors, and The Sims Creator tool.
If you don't have any of The Sims games, this is the perfect place to start. The Sims and the two EPs have so much stuff in it for a Sims novice, you won't need the other expansion packs for years! It's virtually impossible to get bored with infinitely many possibilities.
The Sims Creator is a program where you can make Sims skins. My sister is no artist but she made some pretty good Lord Of The Rings clothes for the LOTR heads she downloaded. It's a good thing to experiment with.
Buy this if you don't have it; you won't be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars . . . . . . . . . wow!, March 19, 2004
By
Gaming Freak (Norfolk, VA. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
This game is the best I've played yet. The most addictive, too. If you have ever played a Tycoon game (Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, etc.) you will have an idea of what this game is like. You have several Neighborhoods which are each a file. In each file there are about ten lots where you Sim families can live. You can design a family of up to eight people, and give them their own personality. You can choose how Neat, Outgoing, Active, Playful, and Nice they are. Then you control thier lives and lead them into success or poverty.

Buy a pre-built house or design your own. The building tools are great, allowing you to build up to two stories and decorate your home with all different kinds of flooring and wallpaper.

Once you've got your house, it's time to furnish it. There many are different types of each item, like couches and chairs. You can buy a cheap sofa, or a more expensive one. To keep you Sims content, you'll want to buy items to fill each of these bars: Hunger, Comfort, Hygiene, Bladder, Energy, Fun, Social, Room.

Each item ups at least one of these bars. If a Sim's Social or Fun bars are too low, the Sims will become depressed and won't do certian things, like go to work. If you let their Hunger bar go into the red zone, they WILL die. They can also die from fire and other things, but it's very easy to prevent that from happening.

To get your Sims a job, have them look in the paper or search their computer (if they have one). You can even improve their job skills at home to get them a raise.

I would recommend this game to anyone over ten. There is some sexual content, since Sims of the opposite sex with good relationships can kiss and do other things. When they get dressed, they sort of spin around and presto, their clothes change. When going to the bathroom or into the shower, a blurred spot appears over their private spots and disappears once they are dressed again.

This game, although fun, can be frustrating at times. Some gamers may have difficulty keeping their Sims happy. But once you get the hang of it, you'll have a great time!

4.0 out of 5 stars I love it except for..., June 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
First off I have to say that I became one of those addicts after I first got this.I'd spend hours and hours playing it and playing it,trying to get my people happy and rich and so on.Its a really great game EXCEPT for those of us who get so addicted we wanna add on more expansion packs, such as oh say Hot Date. The Hot Date has enough problems on its own,I'm not saying it isn't fun but the sounds usually hard to get right if you can get sound on it.I tried to point on Hot Date after Double Deluxe and its just a pain.I've been doing nothing but installing and installing and nothing works, always telling me I've got the wrong CD or it wouldn't play for this reason or that reason. So my advise to you is that if you buy Double Deluxe, don't try to install the Hot Date Expansion Pack after it because thats just impossible.Oh yes,for those of you who can't seem to get it uninstalled, goto the Sims official website and download the SimsEraser.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game not so good playability, July 19, 2004
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
Good game with lots of neat objects and items. The iteractions are cool too. Everything you need to throw a great party. But you get bored of it after a while, and don't get it and plan on not spending more money on another expantion pack. The Sims Makin Magic, Bustin out, and Hot date give you a lot more to do so you are never in a position where all your mood bars are full and you dont have something to do.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT but......, May 18, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
This is an awsome game (well at least the regular one is) I love being in so much control. This is a great game for power hungry people =) BUT... if you don't have a computer that can download things or a computer that can handle all the EP's (expansion packs) than it's not worth it. I don' t think it's very fun if you can't explore new places or do new things like in the EP's. If you do get it you'll get tired of it VERY quickly, BUT... if you go to www.c-and-c-enterprises.com you can get some awsome downloads that will help spice up the game. Here is what I think of the EP's I have
Superstar * * * *
It's HARD to become a superstar!!
Makin Magic * * * * *
I love earning crystals!
Unleashed * * * *
I Love the pets but it was a little dissapointing cuz u can't do much w/ them

Thanks for reading! I hope this helped!

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest PC deal/game of all time!!!, June 22, 2004
By
Luke Money (Flagstaff, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims: Double Deluxe (CD-ROM)
I first recieved Sims DOuble Deluxe as a Christmas gift. Much to my dismay i needed Windows XP to run it. I waited patiently and when the game did work, I found myself staying up late to play it!
First of all...
GRAPHICS 9/10
This game has some of the best graphics I've ever seen. Unlike other games it also does not need to load thest graphics.
GAMEPLAY 10/10
With fires, moods, and work, you are kept alert and on your toes. With buy and build mode, there is no limit to how big your home can be!
SOUNDS 8/10
The only problem...repetitive music. It's not bad, but not good either.
REPLAYABILITY 10/10
Like i said, you won't want to turn off the PC!
EXPANSION PACK ?/10
I haven't loaded it yet.
OVERALL 10/10
This is a great game and i think you would be a fool not to buy it if you can.
