WARNING: Game is designed for online, and is no longer supported.,

Was a great game in its day, but SIMS ONLINE shut down the operation over a year ago. Buy this game and you wont be able to play it, AT ALL. There is no offline option to play this game, strictly an online game that is no longer supported. I think this should be plainly stated on the main page.

Okay, here goes.......,

I have been playing quite awhile but thats because of the attitude I have towards the game. Yes, there are many people who have left the game due to boredom, broken friendships, mafias etc. However the game is what you make it. One thing you will miss most about the offline game compared to this one is the option to increase time speed. Skilling is not fun, especially if you dont have enough skill locking points. Money making can be boring depending on the house you are at. Many owners choose to do trivia or have contests to promote more fun. It is frustrating starting out with only 10k. Not the mention the horrible lag. It doesnt make sense to put a limited population on the popular cities as someone has mentioned before especially since their servers are half working at the time anyway. Don't get me wrong, I have been playin this game for almos two years now. I like it but I will be honest about the reason why I remain...for the friends I have met. however, everyone will not have the same online experience as myself. Whoever the person was that suggested getting the trial version first, I agree. This game is not for everyone so dont waste your money on something you are unsure about. I also agree with the person who said its nothing like the offline game. So dont go in expecting it to be anything like it. So that this doesnt get too long or boring, I will conclude with this: Get the trial version and see for yourself. Everyone on this board is correct, though conflicting views. So save yourself some money and get the trial first........

There is no Sims Online anymore!!
I was shocked to see people are trying to sell this. Unless you are wanting this for... some sort of keepsake or that it may be worth something someday, don't buy it. Most people should know by now that EA took this game offline July 2008. You can buy the box, but you won't be able to play the game. It isn't available. It's too bad too, cuz it was fun, if you're into Sims, to play with other people at the same time. Real people. I didn't have much lag on my computer... and you can find things to complain about in any/every game. At any rate. It isn't available, so if you were buying to play, don't waste your money. The Game Cd's won't work as the server was taken down last year.

The Best Game I've ever played,
By D. McGuire (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims Online (CD-ROM)
TSO is both the best and worst thing that's ever happened to me. I've had more fun than I've ever had without getting out of a chair, but it's also made me stop doing things I should be doing in favor of playing. I'm hooked for life. Not only does it have all the features of The Sims offline, but it has soooo many more. There are about 4 times as many outfit choices as The Sims for PS2, plus there are the pets, and the NPCs (Non-Player Characters) who provide loads of entertainment. There are the jobs, which you actually get to go to, the places, which are created by players, and so are unique and always interesting, and the people!!! The other TSO players are the nicest people I've ever met. It's truly this big online community, and people are always helping people. There are even mini games like pizza making and band that require teamwork, and reward the group with money. It's just like having another life! The downsides: However: I promise you will love this game. People have written songs about it. (Visit purplefreak.com) It's fabulous.

Good Concept, but Falls Short,
By Dan P. "moviemaniac88" (California) - See all my reviews

At first, TSO sounded like a great game. After I bought and played the game, however, it seems a little...well...pointless. You go around to other properties and make "money" by playing mini-games (that are strange, time consuming and not fun). Then you use the money to buy clothes, furninshings and building materials for a house. And then...not much happens after that. I wouldn't even categorize this as a game. There isn't really an obejct to it.
If you're considering buying the game to make friends and meet people, use AIM. TSO is the same concept except you see a fictional image of the person you're talking to. Not too exciting there. And all the interactions get really old after a few days...heck, the whole game gets old after a few days. Not to mention the monthly fee you have to pay to play. Definetly not worth it...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Sims Online (CD-ROM)
Nowhere in the description of this game did it say that it is a dead game. There are no online servers to play this game therefore it was a huge waste of money because you can't do anything with it. You can install it on your computer but after that...nothing...Very frustrating! DON'T BUY!!!!

The Sims Online - A pleasure!,
By Delmer Eggert (Mankato, MN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sims Online (CD-ROM)
First off, this is Delmer Eggert. This is his grandson, using his account to review the Sims Online. When I first heard of the Sims Online about a year and a half ago, I was mildly interested in the game. Actually, it was about when my Sim craze took off when I bought the Deluxe Pack with the original game and its sequel. So anyways, I read up on the game - researched it here and there, including Amazon. I found much negative response to this game and soon game up hope that it was good. But just weeks ago I stumbled upon info that you can download the fourteen day free trial from FilePlanet. My interest soon bubbled back up to the surface. I tried downloading it, but instead bought the game when I found the download would take over TWO days on my modem. Ever since, I have enjoyed the game. I started in the city known as Interhogan and made great friends and room-mates, and even was 'adopted' (no formal adoption in game though). This game has no downsides, in my opinion, other than if you visit a house with fifteen to twenty people, you get lag for quite a while. People say it gets violent and cussing is all around. WRONG! First, interactions must be accepted by BOTH users before something happens (except for tagging!), and there is a word filter so you'll get something like "$%*@!" instead of the word. No worries. Upsides, though, definetly conquer. The most major thing is chat - suddenly sims have ACTUAL personalities! You don't pick, for instance, five cleanliness points, or seven outgoing. Why? Because Maxis thought of a brilliant idea - let US do the behavioral stuff. You can privately or openly IM, make friends or enemies, and build your own house/become a roomie. Just be careful with your money! You only start out with 10 grand. Especially after buying a lot, you're down quite a bit - objects are expensive. But that's more fun - making money. This game lets you make an alter ego - become a p.i.m.p or a suave guy/gal who is loyal to his partner. Play all night long or come home every night to spend time with your love. You chose. Yes, that's right - you chose. Question, though, Maxis: When's the Sims 2 Online comin' out? :P

Beware - Very Addicting!!!,
By
This review is from: The Sims Online (CD-ROM)
My son bought this game (without realizing you have to pay monthly) but we signed up anyway. I used to get mad at the kids for playing too long and not wanting to get off the computer... until *I* tried it - I am so hooked its ridiculous! I even paid real life money to buy extra Sim money! Yep, you can do that and people actually make real money selling it! I think I most enjoy the "house decorting" part of the game. Making money is very time consuming but its fun to chat with other players. I do NOT like the fact that we have to pay about $15 a month to play online. That is WAY too much for one game, especially when we also pay for XBox Online and PoGo! I wouldn't mind $5 a month - maybe. Anyway, I love this game and I am almost 40 years old!

Ever since the new version of TSO came out I have been addicted. I love the new features, especially the pets. my dog's name is Spike and he is a great watchdog, lol. just kidding he is the sweetest thing and would never do anything to hurt anyone. Well, I've got to get back to my game or I'll be late for work.

A player of Sims Online since last April,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Sims Online (CD-ROM)
If your a new player and enjoy the offline versions just be pre-warned you won't find all the objects from the expansion packs in the Sims Online, so if you buy this game and expect to find the fashion stage from Superstar or roller coasters from Makin Magic your will be disappointed, many of the objects from the expansions packs never made it in TSO.Earning simoleans (in game money) is hard and sometimes frustrating, you study certain skills like cooking etc so you can earn more on money objects, but skilling can be very long and tedious, plus unlike the offline version your skills decay at a alarming rate the more you do. New content is slow coming, again don't expect over a hundred new objects every 6 or 7 months like in the offline sims expansion packs, maybe 2 every 8 or 9 months if your lucky. If you love to chat with moving characters then try the game out, if you love the offline sims and expect TSO to let you build a house and funish it right away you will be disappointed,I would recommend getting the game for about 10 bucks if you can and do the free trial if your a big sim lover. |
