This book is way too thick, with too much stuff scattered throughout NOT to have an index!
Ian Chadwick
This book is a great idea if you're a seasoned gamer and want a reference or a new player and want somewhere to look if you're confused.
Deanne Rose Claypool
I would recommend this guide to any sim fan, because it's seriously a great accessory for the "Sequel to the #1 PC Game of All Time!"

Crammed with colour pics on every page, oodles of tables and charts, gobs of data from the trivial to the critical - this book has everything that should have been in the game manual. But of course, "official" guides really *are* the game manuals, craftily packaged and sold as extras.
Well, for Sim 2 lovers, you *have* to get this one. It is simply too rich in information, tips and hints not to own if you want to immerse yourself in the Sims' world. Sure, you can dig up most of this stuff online at fan sites and through FAQs, but nothing so tidily packaged, or so well presented.
Why only four stars and not five? Where's the index? This book is way too thick, with too much stuff scattered throughout NOT to have an index! That's an unforgivable omission - doesn't Prima have at least ONE editor? Or just designers? An index is CRUCIAL to make any manual truly valuable and effective.

I confess...I'm a game guide addict. If there's a guide available, I buy it. Sometimes they've been a big help...sometimes they've been a waste of money.

This one definitely falls into the first category. Sims 2 gives us the opportunity to create characters with more depth than the original game, and this guide explains clearly which traits are best for the type of Sim you're attempting to develop.

Unlike other Prima guides for Sims games, this one has a lot more content than just charts for objects or social interactions (which I usually skip). There are very few chapters in this book that don't provide some useful information. It's well worth the money if you want to take your gameplay to another level.

I just got this book today and it's almost 400 pages long. I must say it really does help a lot. I did say that you didn't really need a strategy guide for a game like this but I may have been wrong. The book explains everything in detail and it does so in an easy to read font and FULL COLOR. I do recommend this guide only because The Sims 2 is a lot more advanced, complicated and harder to grasp at times. Just brezze through it if you have to as a refrence or read it from beginning to end. Your choice. Either way, you'll have hours of enjoyment from both.

Well worth the price (and I got retail for $21+). I am a seasoned Sims player (all expansion packs), and found this to be absolutely terrific. There is a lot more to Sims 2 than genetics, aging and 3-d. Objects do more, peeps do more. You could figure it out (maybe) with time, but why struggle, and find out the hard way that you can now put doors/windows on diagonal walls? Here is a concise list of all objects/build mode/ including cost, depreication, what they do. These folks obviously paid attention to all the hackers out there that built stuff, caused new actions, etc.--because many of those ideas are now part of the official game. This book will prove an invaluable resource to all Simfanatics! I recommend this book--even full retail!

I just wrote a post about the sims 2 game and now I am going to write about the book. This book helped me out a lot with the game. Here are a couple of things this book teaches you about

1) The Sims 2 body shop

2) Making houses

3) If your a first time simmer, it teaches you about the game

4) Each stage of life

5) Jobs and school

6) Genetics and families

I could go on. Go order or bye this book asap! I request buying or at least READING the book before buying the game so that your up to date with everything that you will be doing. Happy Simming!!

This book is not worth twenty bucks. Most of the book is taken up by a reprint of the original Sims2 guide. They did not even bother to correct the errors (of which there were plenty) in the original guide before simply reprinting it and selling it all over again. The part of the guide that is actually about University is sparse, leaves out too many details, and only takes up a few dozen pages. You can find all the information they have in there (and MORE) by doing a google search on Sims2 University. Trust me. Save your money.

"The Sims 2 : Prima Official Game Guide" is exceptionally helpful for The Sims 2 players, particularly if you're a novice in the Sims world. The instruction book that comes with the PC and PC/DVD computer game only covers very basic skills, but if you want information about how to task your Sims well, flourish in their careers, meet their Wants, and have many generations, then this guide is simply a must. It's very effortless to read; author Greg Kramer wrote in a very conversational, easy-going style, making reading this guide enjoyable and uncomplicated. If you're new at playing any kind of Sims game, or of you're a mogul, wanting to get your Sims 2 family ahead in everything, then you must get this guide. I recommend.

I rarely buy game guides, but knowing The Sims 2 is a *very* intimidating and over-whelming game for new players I decided to buy the guide. (Full Retail $21)

This is definatly one of the best Prima guides I've ever viewed! Since, I am a Sims Veteran about 2 "Parts" of the 5 in the book seemed useless. I found myself skipping through -many- pages of the book, and It became tireing how the guide kept repeating itself unnecessarily throughout different chapters. So, for me, alot of the basic sim information that might be important for "Sim Newbies" to know I already knew from seasonal sims gaming.

Yet, the guide is fully equipped with charts, packed-full with expert imformation, exclusive in-depth chapters dealing with sim's social,want/fear,aspiration actions and objects, and alot more hot-tips that makes the guide Well Worth It!

I would recommend this guide to any sim fan, because it's seriously a great accessory for the "Sequel to the #1 PC Game of All Time!"
