5 stars from the kids... with a caveat,

I am not sure why these slides didn't work for one reviewer, but it might have been her carpet. We have three different kinds of carpet at our house: Patterned berber, flat berber, and plush carpet. Surprisingly, the FunSlides worked much better on the plush carpet. I figured the flat berber would work best, but nope. The slides still slid around on berber, and berber is actually a good carpet for a non-skating child to start on. But... the fluffy, fuzzy, plush carpet works best. Also, the heavier the child, the better the slide (to a point--an obese child might end up smashing down the carpet too much for them to work).
We were snowed in for a long time here. The kids had fun indoors with this product. I used them and they really worked my thighs--I could really feel it. Now, these don't feel like regular skates, so if you are expecting that, you'll be disappointed. It feels like socks on a just-waxed floor, or close to it. If you don't like them, you're not out of much money. Or you can buy the track to skate on and skip the carpet altogether.

My girls loved these. I actually bought 3 pairs just so their dad could play with them. They were a hit Christmas morning!

Great way to get the kids working up a sweat indoors. My son got a pair and then we had to get another pair for his younger brother so they could skate together. We also bought a sets as birthday gifts for some friends that are really into hockey and they LOVE them. Great unique item.

I had gotten a three pairs of these for my next-door-neighbor-friends Christmas presents. (Two 11 yr old girls and a seven year old girl) And we absolutely LOVE them! I also got a pair for my Christmas present, and they are so much fun! We will skate all the way down the hall and back, over and over again. Pretty comfortable, very durable (as long as you take GOOD care of them!) and TONS of fun! Enjoy! I think I will go skate with mine now.... :-)

Bought these for an in-office "Winter Olympics" event. We had grown adults running around the carpeted floor, sliding around in events. For example, The Luge: one associate sits in a rolling chair while another, with the skates on, tries to push the chair down a straight hallway. Very hilarious to watch since the skates afford very little push initially. Looks like someone is running in place until they finally get moving.
These would probably be real good for kids if you have plenty of carpet. If they are safe kiddos, they will have lots of fun.

Great for gliding disks for exercise. Seems durable, slides great on my carpet, and economical. Stays on my feet without strapping tightly. Lightweight for traveling. Good for body-weight exercises, helps with balance and flexibility, and makes lunges more fun. Good deal all around.

Are you a fan of Extreme Sports? Quests? Tragedy?
I was a child when I was introduced to the art of carpet sliding. Like magic, I coasted through seas of acrylic yarn fibers without looking back. It was euphoria. Papa caught whiff of my talent. From the dawn to dusk he trained me. It was brutal; rug burn started at my ankles and reached my thighs. He said hobgoblins would nibble my toes off if I quit. Everything would pay off once I won the Annual Semi-Pro Carpet Sliding Tournament. The night before the fated battle I was stealing grass from Old Man Jenson's yard, when his pet Canadian Goose spat at me. No kidding, I didn't even know birds could spit. I was so alarmed, I turned to run away when I slipped on the grass I'd collected and tore my meniscus! Papa's dreams were crushed. I stopped practicing even after it healed. I woke up one morning to find that hobgoblins had devoured my toes. But the carpet sliders are pretty nifty and stuff.

Easy home exercise,
By It's not like I'm doing P90-X and getting chiseled, but I honestly have never felt such an inner thigh burn the next day after sliding laterally wearing these for a half-hour, tops! And no need to pay for an exercise slide. I can watch TV, slide around, and just plain feel good. I think I might be wearing down the fibers in the carpet where I slide laterally back and forth as if I were on an exercise slide--but it's a cheapie from Kmart so I really don't care because it's so worth it to have quiet in-home workouts (can't do much jumping due to my downstairs neighbor). I have to be careful, the velcro snags my sneaker laces so I only use my gym shoes, not sporty sneakers I can wear to work that I want to keep from getting too messy looking. This is a simple way to be active at home--and the skates cost under $20 and were super quick and easy to assemble!

I got this to try to create an inexpensive and space-saving sort of treadmill. What I found was that you just need a carpeted piece of wood on a bit of an incline, preferably near something to grab for balance.
I used a 2-foot square piece of pressed wood I had, draped with a bathroom rug, with a 3-inch support to raise one end (- I'm using yoga blocks, but I'm not sure how well they will stand up to this usage.) I strapped a pair of Skechers slides to the carpet skates so they go on easily like sandals. (The instructions say to wear rubber soled shoes with the carpet skates.) |
